I loveee the decision to make Eternal Sugar well,, sugar- and the metaphor behind it. The garden is quite literally sugarcoated- appearing on the surface as the source of true happiness, much like how sloth can initially appear to be comforting on the surface. But like how sugar tastes sweet but rots your teeth (which is why Eternal Sugar and her garden is associated with teeth), eternal sloth is sweet but leads to decay as well... in sense of spirit. The garden is even described as "cloying" multiple times- the perfect word here- the garden is too sweet, overabundant with sugar. However, it's fine to consume sugar in moderation, just like it's okay to indulge in sloth on occasion

I also believe that Pure Vanilla wanting to understand Shadow Milk is a metaphor for him wanting to better understand deceit and doubt. Since he now realizes that truth isn't absolute, he wants to be open to different perspectives and better understand the unknown. As the holder of the souljam of truth, he generally wants to better understand his other half so they can properly co exist to create the virtue of knowledge. He knows that he has the potential to understand Shadow Milk like no one else because Shadow Milk understood him so well due to sharing a souljam, so it would work the other way around

I guess their is shadow milk / white lily parallels but what do you think of the statement ‘White Lily should have gotten the Light of Truth’

Shadow Milk in my rewrite is basically more theatrical and uses improv whenever his plans fail. He doesn't become the Ultimate Cookie or throw temper tantrums. And he quotes a lot of musicals in his dialogue-

loved seeing my girl awaken and seeing her call out Silent Salt. I actually did plan to analyze the fire scene but idk if anyone is interested
