Lain's name is pronounced "Lane" it's an inside joke because one of the writers, Iain Hendry, usually gets his name mispronounced as "Lane" instead of "ee-an" because the uppercase I in his name looks like a lowercase L, so they decided to give Lain the misspelled/mispronounced version of Iain's name as a joke
