Found myself wanting to say that "consuming text is easy and passive, unlike video which requires active effort to watch" and then realized this is the opposite of what basically every other human being would say.

this is an appreciation post for anyone who has ever tolerated me

Truly I hate the fact that if you’ve got memory problems people just assume you’re dumb. Like sure it’s great to be able to list off perfectly memorised bullet points at a moment’s notice, but I don’t really think that’s an adequate way of assessing that person’s learning. That doesn’t tell me you’re knowledgeable on the subject, it tells me you’re really good at dot points & flash cards. Can you define them in your own words? You can remember them but do you understand them?

i love the trope in fiction of everything going horribly wrong when the protagonists are in fancy clothes. fighting in suits, hair a mess to contrast their outfits— what’s supposed to be put together instead torn and stained in blood— just excellent vibes all around

As an aro who has been abused by those who loved me, I want to see more love as horror. Love as suffocation. Love as violence. I don’t want to hear “if they really loved you they wouldn’t have—” as if love is some pure force, some inherent good. Show me love that is evil. Love that is haunting. Love that is poison dressed up as a cure.

i just love all the stories about production on project hail mary. they didn't use a single green/blue screen in the whole film. they built the whole interior of the hail mary. the petrova line scene was done practically by putting infrared lights on a chicken wire cage. rocky's voice was one of the puppeteers because he did such a good job during filming that they couldn't imagine anyone else voicing him. and rocky was a practical puppet/animatronic! sandra huller picked sign of the times as her karaoke song and she asked her daughter if it was still a cool song. i just feel like there was so much love making this film and im obsessed

My advice, as a geologist, is to not drink rocks.
