Nostalgia. I had waited to get a good shot of this flag yesterday, one that reminds of my Tito Bobby, who fought against the dictator and for our freedoms, with the August 21 Movement in 1983, after Ninoy was killed on Aug 21. None of this made sense to 7-year-old me, but ATOM was part of Sunday family conversations, this flag a normal presence attached to cars, the logo on stickers and tshirts. In 1986, ATOM was the first one at EDSA with Butz Aquino, and where we can argue about post-EDSA, the events that led to, and the actual four days of #EDSA1986 to me, is the constant reminder of what we are doing right in the present, with these anti-Marcos protests and our insistence that the dictator is no hero. I have no qualms about nostalgia and tribute as the fuel for protest, when it is grounded in history, when it learns from the movements before us, and the forms of protest that have existed all these years. We've got a lot of learning to do, but we are here. We got this, Tito Bobby. We got this. #MarcosNoHero #MarcosNotAHero #BlockMarcos #NeverAgain
