But, if I had to pick one? Atticus’s kindness. Because... The world is cold and harsh and terrifying sometimes. A lot of the time. But Atticus is always this presence of kindness and caring and support. They don’t pretend they can fix everything. They don’t pretend like I can fix everything. But they always make me know that, no matter what, there’s always people who care about me. There’s always people who are willing to listen. And that kindness inspires me to be kinder to other people, too, to help spread that kindness. It can’t fix everything, but it always makes the world a little bit better. And that’s just the greatest gift.

You are important.  You are stronger than you realize.  You have overcome obstacles and survived heartbreaks.  You are here.  You are alive.  You have the capacity to grow and learn and live and love and that is incredibly precious.  It doesn’t always feel like it, sometimes it hurts to the point of being unbearable.  When things get rough, use some of whatever energy you have left and reach out to someone you can rely on for support.  I believe in you.  You, darling, incredible being, are loved.

That’s a relief.  Like...I know listening to the pervasive cultural notion that you must look early 20s forever is dumb. But I am a vain, vain person.  On the funny side, my boss, who seems to have a creepy habit of picking tattoo apprentices who are 19 was shocked to learn my actual age.  My ultimate goal is to be like Tilda Swinton, we’re somewhat unsure of either her age or gender and assume she’s some vaguely celestial being set on earth to teach us a lesson.
