anyone know if Edith Tolkien ever wrote or spoke on how she felt about her tombstone being engraved with "Luthien"? obviously her opinion supersedes here, but if it were me, i would not like it if the only thing my tombstone reflected about my time of life was that i was a pretty woman that gave my spouse the idea to write a pretty woman into his books, and this took the form of his fictional character name being carved into my tombstone. actually i think that's reductive and self-important as fuck and dramatically lowers my opinion of JRR Tolkien. unless âïž they talked about it first
