“don’t give up on me” ( @ rowan )
IT HAD BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE THINGS HAD BEEN SIMPLE BETWEEN THEM, first friends and then strangers ( but the way rowan saw it, they were in two very different worlds ——- hailey with the popular crowd while rowan was left to be their pawn. ) it hadn’t been easy to lose her life long best friend to people she saw no good in, especially since she was the only one she ever truly relied on. and with her family falling apart before her eyes, being left with no one hit her hard. she wasn’t sure she could ever forgive hailey for what had happened —– finding new friends was one thing, but completely deserting the one she already had was another. things had CHANGED now, this was no long about being FRIENDS OR NOT, it was about life or death. all of their personal problems were pushed aside, their only real focus now to be to survive and help each other.
❝ THAT’S NOT AN OPTION FOR ME. ❞ she didn’t want her to think that, even if she had given up on her years ago ( hailey had left her no choice back then, rowan had no reason to believe she still wanted her to be her friend. ) now, it was different —– hailey needed someone on her side now more than ever. it was in her protective nature to show her that she wasn’t alone, that there was nothing that she could do that would make rowan want to walk away from her now. they had been through too much, things much heavier and darker than any teenager should have to deal with —— and whether or not things could ever go back to the way they used to be, rowan was going to make sure hailey knew she had her. ❝ hailey, i’m not. i’m not going to. i’m ready to listen whenever you’re ready to talk —- and if you don’t want to do that, then we don’t have to. ❞
she wasn’t even sure if SHE could talk after the things they had seen, and even now with all the questions that were still left unanswered ( who sent them that LAST MESSAGE? ) a hand reached for hers, grabbing it in an effort to comfort her —– just like they used to when they were younger. but back then, their problems weren’t this drastic. ❝ it’s still you and me. you, me, and elisia now too. we just —- have to find a way to find some kind of normalcy again. trust me, hales, i know we can find it —- we just have to stick together, like we did before. ❞
