To me, the eclipse is all about new beginnings but x10 stronger. So I am using this time to break a habit that has been ingrained in me since diapers. I don’t have many herbs because I’m still in the broom closet, but feel free to add some banishing/purifying herbs.

You will need:

        Pen         Paper         Black thread/ribbon         Easily worn charm (I have a bracelet, but you can do a ring, earring,...shoelace? Whatever you can wear every day)         banishing/purifying oil (optional)         candle*

Cast circle and call deities if that’s your thing. If not, I recommend you call SOMETHING, as breaking a habit requires help. During the eclipse, I am focusing on the balance of the god and goddess so I will invoke both (Provided they are both amiable to the idea). Write your habit or a sigil on the slip of paper and bind it with the thread. Picture the habit, what does it look like? How does it affect your life? What emotions do you associate with it? Pour all that into the paper. Anoint both the paper and the candle with the oil. Chant:

“As the sun hides darkly and begins anew, Let its power break this habit So I may stand proud and true. May fire* purify this obsession from me I abide by three, so mote it be.”

Burn* the bound habit and charge your charm with its smoke. Wear it every day to remind you. [you can also keep it with you during the eclipse to charge, then destroy it later when you have time]
