As I mentioned months ago, eclipses symbolize moments when things are brought to the surface and take center stage.

It's the moment of the Shadow passing through the Light, drawing attention. It's a moment of integrating Light and Shadow (which is what we aim for).

However, if we're talking about a solar eclipse, the Shadow usually takes up more space than the Light, but the light still appears to show this power.

While lunar eclipses bring a kind of climax, intensity, increase, and clarity to an issue, partly because they occur during the Full Moon, which already carries that meaning,

solar eclipses bring the idea of beginnings, opportunities, rejuvenation, a focus on things that involve only you, endings, and beginnings. The moment of the solar eclipse is a moment when it is seen that behind the darkness of the New Moon, there is the light of the Sun pointing to something more warm.

An energy distribution that takes both into account - the internal and the external, the Light and the Shadow. Therefore, I understand that solar eclipses also represent integration.

We will have a Solar Eclipse on October 14, 2023 (a specific post about the effects of the phenomenon will be posted later). This means beginnings & this Light-Shadow aspect will come with greater force. And how will this manifest, Paty?

This very powerful new moon solar eclipse in Aries pushes us to evolve, change, mature, and grow. The theme of new beginnings continues to be very strong at this time. We are being shown what we’re ready to dedicate focused effort towards building for our long-term future.

Yet the pull of the past is just as strong as the push towards the future right now. We are being shown what needs to be left in the past and not dragged forward into the future. Happy Lunar Eclipse, Astrology bitches! Going about shit a little differently this week. This Eclipse is energy packed, whoever you are, wherever you are, you’re gonna feel it. I’m gonna keep this extra-digestible and just hit the main points.

(1) WHY IS A LUNAR ECLIPSE IMPORTANT

Good shit. During a lunar eclipse, the Earth steps between the Sun and the Moon, the moon gets totally cut off from the Sun’s light, the moon gets to ball out and do her own thing. The moon represents how you adapt and change to become your best self – when the moon gets let off the leash, you get blasted with some straight up unfiltered consciousness that you can use to make changes happen way faster than usual. The eclipse window is open until the moon gets back around to Leo 1º (one month from now), so live it up.

If you’re reading this shit like, girl, I fucking hate change I am so over all this transformative shit, that’s cool. Don’t worry about it. This is just an opportunity. You can get in on the next one. 

(2) HOW DO I DEAL WITH THE PAST

The Past is at it again! Creeping right up on you. It doesn’t matter who you are, The Past is coming for you this month. Some of you may read this shit like, “time doesn’t exist, fuck ‘the past’.” That’s all good and well and true, but if you’re one of us who’s living in this world, not super helpful. When the past starts blasting you during the coming month, when ex’s and old friends creep out the woodwork saying they’ve changed or you’re suddenly caught up reliving memory after memory, slow down. Every moment is an opportunity to make a different choice. Don’t let The Past get you thinking you’re worthless or helpless. This month, you need to have the will to identify what really matters from the past. The rest ain’t shit. Don’t get caught up in the whirlwind of unresolved feelings, take a minute, get your Aquarius on and detach. Ask yourself: How have I changed? Which parts of me have stayed the same? Who do I want to be? Will reliving this experience be constructive or destructive?  If you decide to make The Past your present, no shame, all is well, but own this as your choice and stop acting like you just couldn’t resist. 

(3) WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING WITH MY FEELINGS

When The Past comes for you, you better believe the feelings are coming with. Suddenly you’re missing people you haven’t thought about literally in years or you want to uproot your life and go live in the jungle. Woah. Once again, don’t get sucked into this shit. Slow down. You can have your feelings without becoming them. Use your feelings as guides. Ask yourself: why might I be feeling this way? Can changing how I think about this situation/person change how I feel about it? Am I using my feelings as an excuse to make unhealthy choices for myself, or am I honoring a true inner urge? If I act on these feelings in the present, how am I setting myself up to feel in the future? I don’t give a fuck who you are, you have your feelings. Let yourself feel them. Sometimes we act on our feelings immediately just to make them go away, actually feeling them and thinking about them can help us resolve inner conflict in a healthier way. Stop banishing your shit, sit with it. Think about it. Then make an autonomous choice. The Past and/or your feelings should inform your choices, but they shouldn’t choose for you. You choose for you! You, now. Not you then or later.

(4) I AM A FAILURE

No, you’re not. Stop this shit. Polarities, my friends. What appears like failure to the rest of the world may very well have been an inner success. Good, bad, success, failure, don’t worry about it. You can’t have one without the other.  What matters is you becoming more of yourself. And no one knows what that looks or feels like but you. So chill out, look to the future with positivity, not dread. Sometimes changing your life just means changing how you think about it.

Sunday February 26th at 9:59 am est we have a solar eclipse at 8 degrees Pisces. A solar eclipse is like a super charged new moon. It signals a powerful new beginning. Unlike a regular new moon a solar eclipse’s influence is so powerful it can last an entire year. This particular solar eclipse in Pisces is occurring simultaneously with other aspects that denote this time to be one of particularly strong inceptions. These events will be overtly Piscean in nature as we have a stellium in that sign at the time of the eclipse. Additionally we have Mars directly conjunct uranus at the time of the eclipse forming a hard t-square aspect to pluto and jupiter, with pluto as the fulcrum. This is an extremely forceful and volatile formation. Having it occur alongside the solar eclipse means that its significance is interlinked with this celestial event. But more on that later.

First lets look at the sign of pisces itself. Its meaning, temperament, and all of the action going on in that sign. Pisces is the natural ruler of the 12th house of the zodiac. The twelfth house is a karmic house, it deals with the hidden, the spiritual, the things that undo us. I often describe it as the yogi’s cave in the zodiac. It in fact does rule ashrams, monasteries, hospitals, namely places of retreat. The modern planetary ruler of Pisces is Neptune. It’s ancient planetary ruler is Jupiter. Pisces is one of the most mysterious, confusing, and difficult places in the zodiac. It is associated with dissolution. Conversely it is also one of the most spiritually evolved places. It is the place where the ego dies. It is associated with universal love. Pisces is known as the Jesus sign. It is directly related to so called “Christ Consciousness.” What most seem to forget is that christ was crucified before he ascended to heaven according to Christian mythology. The sign of pisces in our chart can feel like an area of life where we are being crucified when it’s enduring a difficult transit. This is the process of ego dissolution. The self is obliterated and thus transcends its bonds. It is a “moksha” sign in vedic terms. Whatever house is ruled by pisces in one's personal zodiac is a place where the blows to ego can lead to transcendence. It can be a place where spirituality, generosity, feelings of universal love and humanitarianism manifest. It can be where our spiritual evolution is on display. At a lower vibration, It can be a place where our escapism manifests. One thing is certain, it can be a murky, confusing, and even painful place when underdeveloped or it is enduring a difficult transit. Pisces is like the entheogenic experience of the zodiac that opens our awareness. It many ways it is the realm of the sage or shaman.

Now that we have an idea of what Pisces is like, let's have a look at what the planets and stars are doing at the eclipse in that sign. Before we get to the solar eclipse itself I want to point out that Mercury will have just ingressed into pisces at this time. At the exact moment of the Solar eclipse it will be at one degree pisces. This highlights the signature of new beginnings this solar eclipse carries. The zeitgeist turns towards the Piscean. Conversations about humanitarianism will be prevalent at this time.There could be developments in issues that concern the good of all mankind. The eclipse is part of a stellium in pisces. When we see a stellium in the zodiac we know that there is a concentration of energy in that area and the themes of that sign will dominate whatever is happening around us.

So what does this mean in relation to the solar eclipse itself? Well, first we need to look at a few other things. Most striking is that the solar eclipse itself will be conjunct Skat. Skat is the fixed star known as “The Wish” and is thought to grant “shelter from the deluge.” It is believed to bring about lasting happiness and good fortune. This is a wonderful indication of positivity for this solar eclipse. Whatever new beginning comes through this solar eclipse will prove to be very fortunate, resulting in something that brings enduring happiness. Neptune the ruler of pisces will be three degrees away from the eclipse highlighting its piscean feel. Even though there is an exceptionally strong Pisces influence imbuing dreaminess, creativity, humanitarianism and universal love, to this eclipse, it is a stark point of change that might feel a bit difficult and sudden. This is made evident by the harder aspects occurring alongside it. This eclipse is an extreme new beginning which may not feel as cushy and warm as all the Pisces humanitarian influence might suggest. Of course how it interacts with your own personal birth chart is of utmost consequence. Generally speaking it can be a bit of a shakeup. This solar eclipse blows open our awareness in some way and the way it does this could feel a bit harsh, sudden and disconcerting initially.

This harshness can be seen in the mars uranus conjunction at the time of the eclipse. They are opposite jupiter which inflates this volatile union. Both Jupiter and the Mars Uranus conjunction are squaring pluto. This is the aforementioned difficult T-square. As we know pluto is deeply transformative. He can be cruel and unforgiving in his methods of transformation. Having him in hard aspect to such a volatile exaggerated conjunction is a little unnerving. This is forceful, sudden, possibly devastating change initially. But remember, the eclipse is conjunct Skat. Whatever happens results in lasting happiness even if it may not seem like it at first. Skat offers “protection from the deluge” meaning that though events may be intense and harsh there will be some refuge from what transpires at the time.

So, given all that we have examined, I’m going to summarize this solar eclipse as a blast of ground shaking awareness that moves us towards supremely auspicious and powerful new beginnings.
