Jamuel Saxon | Lighthouse Attendant
What is it with the recent trend in slightly vandalized celebrity band names? I don't know why I think it's hilarious, but by my count there's at least four: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Com Truise, Mickey Mickey Rourke, and Jamuel Saxon. Any others I'm missing?
One of these days when I've got some time I'll try and make some sense out of it, but the most recent of these faux-celebrity bands I've been hearing is San Diego's Jamuel Saxon. The track above, Lighthouse Attendant, comes from the new (and free!) Time Is Money EP offered at Jamuel's bandcamp, and is essentially a preview of their upcoming Pre-Madonna LP. The track and EP alike are dripping with down-temp beats and honeyed, synthesized vocals, which appear to be a JS trademark. It even has hints of R&B mixed in with the laid-back tempo that has me completely sold on these guys already.
