writer questions

1. Have you ever written in an unusual place?
I donât think so. Though once I did find myself without pen and paper, and so I drew patterns in the condensation on a bus window to remember what I was thinking.
2. The word/phrase you know you overuse, but canât get rid of it.
I havenât written regularly in ages so that I canât think of any phrase in particular, but I do tend to fall back on certain sentence structures. Thatâs not a bad thing, per se, depending on what you want to write. These days I want to stretch myself a bit though, so personally itâs become a bad habit to keep.
3. Do you keep notes? Do you have a notebook?
There are so many notebooks. So, so many. There are also so many loose bits of paper and scrubbed swathes of skin (if all else fails, out comes the pen and arm), and so many napkins that will never be used as napkins because I was foolish and didnât use waterproof ink. If I had a single notebook, itâd be a brick, and Iâd probably be able to kill someone with it.Â
4. Whatâs the hardest part of a fic to write for you?
Beginnings are the worst for me, because I start off knowing where the story ends and usually work my way backwards. Itâs rare for me to start writing a story right at its beginning, even if I know how it begins.Â
5. Have you ever based something in your fic on your personal experience?
I think I write the wrong genre for that :âDD I definitely pluck out little bits of myself to sketch out characters, but as for personal experiences...hm, no, I canât think of anything.Â
6. Whatâs that one fic you want to write but somehow know you never will?
I labor under the delusion that I can write all my Dishonored wips before the next game comes out, so ha! Ha!
7. What do you usually do when you procrastinate?
Read scientific papers! or sleep. I canât get enough of the stuff.Â
8. Whatâs the funniest typo youâve made?
My fingers are not prone to verbal drama, alas. Although my phoneâs autocorrect is pretty damn funny.Â
9. Do you listen to music when you write?
Sometimes! I donât bring my own music if Iâm writing at a coffee shop because Iâm already working to tune out all the background noise. If I do listen to music itâs usually scores or soundtracks, and Iâll only put on something with lyrics if itâs in a language I donât understand. Otherwise my brain latches onto the song instead of what Iâm trying to write and that generally ruins all productivity :âDD
10. Your favorite comment a reader has left on your fic?
Iâm definitely not the best fic writer to ask this, seeing as I write about characters so tertiary I have to name them myself :âD Honestly, Iâm just glad people comment with anything at all. Itâs good to think someone thought it was worth the time.Â
