Donnie after the invasion was incredibly paranoid and untrustworthy of most things which was written off as ptsd before he started being oddly curious and not in his way of scientific curiosity that comes with experimentation but more of of poking things to figure out how they work or just staring and after a while a voice in his head keeps screaming for freedom till one day he’s tired of it and decides to just scream into his room what it wants from him and like a line appears in his shell like a cut outline and he just grabs a knife screaming at the voice in his head is this “what you want?!” Than just cuts it off (he has medical supplies in his room and was not planning for this to happen) and opens the nearest drawer to grab some gauze he quickly wraps himself with it as a temporary solution looking at the shell piece on the ground feeling like shit obviously but also feeling the best he’s ever been so he starts rummaging through the medical drawer looking for painkillers and rubbing alcohol to clean himself up painlessly leaving the rest for tomorrow looking at the piece of shell on the floor like “fuck why did I do that that’s like a piece of my spine omg how am standing how am I alive ?!”(plot convenience and draxum 👍) And grabs a battle shell to cover it up it sits uncomfortably on his back but that’s fine because he hears a sound and turns around and the shell piece has eyes peeking out of it and is horrified before a head arms legs and a small tail pops out with the most deadpan face ever yet somehow he can feel the guilt radiating from the creature before getting up and going back to bed begging for this to be all a incredibly fucked up dream
