im sorry it’s taken me so long to answer this. it basically shook me out of being able to respond, sent me reeling. I had to repress the memory of this ask, that’s how much I couldn’t handle it.

For those who are interested, Kisses by Sunflower Beds (tumblr) (ao3) is a cas-centric destiel fic I wrote a while back. It’s probably the saddest premise I’ve ever come up with but the fic itself is more bittersweet (fluffy even) than angsty. 

When Dean dies Cas can’t bring him back, but he can’t be without him, either. So Cas leaves to meet versions of Dean he hasn’t come across before. Dean at three as a snotty toddler. At eight as a grubby child. At fifteen when he’s already damaged. Cas travels through time to meet Dean throughout his life, different version of the man and Cas loves every single one. The brilliant @reallyelegantsharkfish wrote a companion fic with the same premise. You can read a face in the water on tumblr and ao3.

Castiel has seen him around campus almost every single day for the past three and half weeks: whenever Cas would be walking out of Barton Hall, laden with books and walking brusquely to his next class, the other would be making his way out of the library, clad in a leather jacket with a messenger bag slung over his shoulder. He has eyes of an almost startling green, and always gives a slight nod and a smile as Castiel walks past, one ink-stained hand on his shoulder strap while the other holds onto a couple of art history books.

Beyond Cas returning the gesture with a quirk of his own lips, that is the extent of their interaction.

Looks great! I messed around a little bit and everything seemed to be working. I'll let you know if that changes.
