when you think about the fact that all the easy co. guys were like. in their twenties during ww2, them being so awkward getting all the attention + kisses + hugs etc is hilarious

I think that’s what makes the scene so funny yet endearing (until the “war and tragedy” parts kick in again), they really are just a bunch of young guys being embarrassed by public affection

Richard Winters : Drum major. He’s a leader. He has a kind heart but isn’t afraid to use his voice. Also, batons. But, he played trumpet, as well.

Lewis Nixon : Saxophone. They have a certain attitude and I think Nixon fits it. Also, Careless Whisper constantly.

Ronald Speirs : Either assistant drum major or a mellophone. I see him as both.

Harry Welsh : Without a doubt, flute. I see him as that and only that. No argument.

Carwood Lipton : Clarinet! There are a lot of super sweet but super headstrong kids I know that play clarinet. So, yeah!

Chuck Grant : Tuba. I just...I don’t know? He’s a tuba, alright?

Floyd Talbert : Trumpet. You know them, the popular, loud, charming type. That’s Floyd if I’ve ever heard him.

Shifty Powers : Tuba, also. They are so sweet and I just can picture him with it.

Don Malarkey, Skip Muck, Alex Penkala : Okay, as a trombonist myself, these men belong to us! My section and the Mortar Boys lowkey have the same energy!

Alton More : Snare. Again, I picture him playing it really well.

George Luz : Trombone, again. Another win for us, might I add.

Joe Liebgott : QUADS. Dear God, this...this is his calling. My friend is essentially a small Ross McCall as Liebgott. So, quads!

David Webster : Flute. It makes sense.

Eugene Roe : Flute, again. Soft, sweet, angelic? Yes. Gene is a flute.

Babe Heffron : Trumpet? Absolutely. He’s the type to play on the field and go all out even if he is a freshman.

Bill Guarnere : Trumpet, also. He takes Babe under his wing.

Johnny Martin : He’s the band director. But he played mellophone.

Bull Randleman : Bass drum! I feel like he’d be really good at it.

Joe Toye : Quads, for the reason being BECAUSE.

Moe Alley : Clarinet. Gorgeous boy.

Frank Perconte : Trumpet, because he is small and all the trumpets I know are small.

Don Hoobler : Saxophone, because Lewis Nixon needs someone to play Careless Whisper with!

Nix is the most ridiculously obnoxious prisoner in the world

The men of easy co would do anything for winters and would gladly punch sobel if given the opportunity

Dick notices first because he's always keeping an eye on everyone and Gene's been acting kinda off lately

he wants to check on him but Gene doesn't let him because he knows he's getting sick but he can handle it

he cannot handle it

he gets a bad fever and Dick forces him to stay in bed

meanwhile the news spread and it's actual chaos

everyone wants to do something to help but those idiots just end up making a big mess

at least they're trying

Lip brings blankets. a lot. a lot of blankets.

Babe brings chocolate. Every kind he can find in the store.

he literally comes back with two bags full of chocolate because he didn't know which one was Gene's favorite flavor. so he just buys them all.

Muck, Malarkey and Penkala are the kind od friends that come visit you when you're sick to update you on every stupid little thing that has happened while you were not there

Babe comes back the next day with a bunch of flowers

The smell is too strong and like Gene keeps sneezing but he refuses to let anyone take the flowers away

Web brings books to read

Speirs comes back from the pharmacy with 10 packs of the pills gene had asked him to buy

when Gene asks why he just shrugs and goes like "for good measure"

Nix offers him a drink because "a drink a day keeps the doctor away"

Dick tells him off but he actually manages to make Gene laugh

Luz cracks jokes all the time, he sits down next to Gene to keep him company and starts telling the weirdest stories

all of sudden the guys start to gather around to listen and laugh all together

Dick knocks on the door every hour or so to check on Gene and to make sure the kids™ are not being too loud or annoying

Gene actually loves it

He loves them all
