If The "we kill babies on the reg because of eugenics" Giver can be a middle grade novel earthsmith can be too
this is so true I'm printing this out to put on my wall as inspiration
What’s earthsmith?
Honestly did not anticipate that anyone would notice those tags so I don't actually have a truly good answer for you at this point (thank you for asking tho!). Earthsmith is a pet project of mine that I resurrected briefly at the start of the pandemic. I originally started it when I was about 13-14 and still writing fiction regularly, but I have basically none of the original work saved because it was all on my original Wattpad account that I lost access to yearsss ago, and which I had a bad tendency to delete stuff off of without archiving.
When it started, Earthsmith was basically the steampunk white people version of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but at this point it's been stripped of pretty much anything resembling that plot or aesthetic. I don't have a very good sense of WHAT it is at this point, I'm mostly just writing snippets here and there. The tone it's taken on is very Pratchett-esque (surprise surprise), so I think at this point it's looking like it'll be a middle grade fantasy novel of some description, but I don't know if I'll ever have the time or energy to devote to really turning it into a finished work.
