6/17/2020 - Never Animate (1.2)
Hello fellow Earpers.
Today I spent a majority of the day on figuring out how to connect movement of the character/user input to the actual character animation. And when I say a majority of the day, I say a majority of the day.
I started out today actually designing my first character for the game, Wynonna. (I’m not trying to spoil much of what I am doing for the game, so I won’t show any pictures of her.) I used the Steam application Fuse to build the character up and perfect the details. However, this was also version 1 of Wynonna’s look, so this is always subject to change.
I then spent 2 hours... then 4 hours... then took a break because something wasn’t going right on my computer with the animations and I was getting frustrated. Then I got back to it at around 10pm and spent another two hours trying to figure out the Unity code to connect my animation parameters to the actual animation. Finally, I found this wonderful soul on YouTube, John Pile Jr, who finally gave me a simple enough answer to what I’ve been asking.
From there, I was able to add in my idle, walking, running, and back-peddling animations to my Wynonna character.
Tomorrow I should be able to add in the ability to move the camera and character with my mouse and finish the options menu. I also plan to look into how to create save checkpoints so you can save throughout the game (maybe not coding that yet, but looking at different tutorials).
Hope you had a great day, Earpers! Keep your head up!
Lmfaooo I wonder how awkward the recording booths were for Dom and Kat because they obviously had to do ADR for those moans 😂
