They're in love no one can convince me otherwise
Seroroki Supremacy
It's interesting to see how Dabi is basically Earlyroki who became a villain. Someone so consumed by his resentment and spite that he can't see anything except the object of his hatred (likely the same object: Endeavor). Someone who rejects all friendship and only sees those around him as stepping stones towards his own goal. Tellingly, he was introduced at the same time as Shoto grew past Earlyroki. In the ~200 chapters since, Shoto's grown so much... while Dabi is basically the same person.
Yeah, I’ve always thought that Dabi was a very dark version of a possible outcome for Shouto if his rage and hatred for Endeavor pushed him down a villainous path.
Earlyroki definitely gave off those cold vibes, who really couldn’t even see the people around him, let alone connect with them, because he was so wrapped up in his own rebellion. And it was kind of chilling to see him interact with the villains at the USJ, where the only thing that holds him back from harming them are the rules and his own ambitions to become a hero.Â
But, still, I think Earlyroki was also a bit different from Dabi in that his hate was clearly directed only against Endeavor only. He didn’t hate all heroes - in fact, his admiration for All Might is clear even at this stage.
And I think Todoroki challenging Midoriya specifically is actually a cry for help. It almost seems like he himself doesn’t understand why Izuku, but it’s clearly because of Izuku’s link to All Might.Â
Because Todoroki never really subscribed to the goal Endeavor wanted to pass onto him. But All Might was Shouto’s hero, so I think that he reached out because he wanted to be saved and he reached out to Midoriya, because he felt the All Might-like quality in him.
I can’t be sure until we get the full Touya backstory, but I think that Earlyroki was similar to where Touya would have been at the time of his presumed death.Â
Dabi has become since then much more rigid in his hatred and he projected it to all heroes, without any distinction. While the admiration Shouto felt for All Might kept him anchored intrinsically to the hero values (not just the hero side in hero society, but the true hero values that Stain respected and recognized in Shouto).
Shouto’s never gonna let anyone touch him ever again. I mean- gah, look at this.
He’s only ever been hugged what, once, twice before? There’s All Might at the Sports Festival, but that’s an awkward, staged hug (he gives one to Tokoyami too and probably would’ve hugged Bakugou had Bakugou not been restrained). Sure, you can say that his mom hugged him, but not really? She’s technically only just touching him (and only on his right, at that).
Shouto’s not a touchy-feely kind of guy; we never really see him touch his friends or anything (unlike someone like Kirishima, who’s constantly hanging off of Bakugou or other people). He likely associates touch with hurt, due to Endeavor, and really has only ever been properly hugged by All Might. [Edit: He’s also been hugged by Slidin’ Go.]
Not only touch, but emotions too. Shouto’s already so emotionally constipated as is. Remember, how, at the beginning of the year, way back some 280-something chapters ago how he totally freezes Ojirou and Hagakure and says that he’s on a different level than them? Then about ten chapters later he declares to Midoriya how he’s better than him? Yeah. I don’t think we’re going to get that Shouto, but he’s definitely not going to be alright after this. I’m worried he’s just going to completely shut down.
This is definitely going to set him back.
If you thought Earlyroki was bad, whatever Shouto’s going to be like after this is all over is going to be so much worse.

what was he thinking when he chose this as a hero costume
what was horikoshi thinking
It’s said that when a phoenix dies, it’s body will burst into flames.
Through those flames it’s born again,
rising from the ashes of it’s former self.
i love this new arc alreadyÂ
