Can a Baby Learn to Read?
Can a Child Under the Age of Four Read?
What made me interested into investigating this is, because I was four years old when we found out I could read. OK, that fits into what the experts say, except there was one difference--I was deaf. So I always wondered if I wasn't deaf would I have learned at an earlier age?(As an adult I had surgeries that gave me about 50% of my hearing back). I think in the end it wouldn’t have mattered, I love to read now and I loved to read then.

I read one article in The Wahington Post that experts argue it's not possible before the age of 4-year-old.
The article also mentions a man who owns Brillbaby, and he argues his daughter was much, much younger and cites a video of his daughter reading. I will show his video below.
The one thing everyone is in agreement with is that all children benefit from being held and read to!
Below is Mr. Wong's video of his daughter

I do feel protective (maybe overly so) of those first years of a child’s life. I know how hard it is not to project, to worry about every aspect of our baby’s development, rather than accept what our babies choose to do — and do naturally — as enough. My hope for all of us is to find a way to slow down and enjoy the present, relax, trust nature, our children and ourselves.
