If you are not in the UK, then please double check the legislation in your country regarding this issue and proceed as above if appropriate.

If it does happen to be legal in your country, then all I can advise is for you to attempt to provide him with some research sources which may persuade him not to proceed. Here is a good one you can provide him with which offers information as to how dogs with cropped ears are at a health and behavioural disadvantage compared with their natural counterparts. Feel free to do your own research and find some other local sources which may help your case. The BSAVA and RSPCA both have numerous articles and social media posts about the issue.

It's an awful situation to be in, particularly when the mutilation your friend wants to go ahead with happens to be legal (encouragingly, I've heard that there are fewer vets than ever in America who are willing to carry out such procedures.
