The Lakes Basin of Oregon. As self-proclaimed "North Cascades elitist," we were surprised by the beauty and variety of this area in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, Oregon's largest wilderness area (and protected since 1940, 24 years before the Wilderness Act). ° The greatest downside, in my opinion, was how well graded the trails were. For most , stock grade trails around 5% Incline (~250'/mile) is great, but not when you want to gain and lose more than 4,000' of elevation more than once. And not when you're accustomed to steep climbers trail whose purpose is to gain and drop quickly. ° We bagged 3 summits, all in the OR T100 (actually the top 15) in the lovely Wallowa Mountains. ° 📸 September 2019 📍 Eagles Cap Wilderness ° #EagleCap #EagleCapWilderness #Oregon #PacificNorthwest #PNW #PNWonderland #PacificNorthwest #NPS #NFS #samsung #phonephotography #optputside #rei1440project #WildernessCulture #HikingCulture #igPacificNorthwest #IGnorthwest #OregonNW #WallowaWhitmanNationalForest #ChooseMountains #AdventureAwaits #PNWPeakbaggers @pnwpeakbaggers (at Eagle Cap Wilderness) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2bxnMjjtNx/?igshid=1afa4mpfd0jvv
