Breaks
Looking out beyond the horizon, every worried though that I had gradually dissipated as an overwhelming sense of reassurance engulfed me in its comfort. The air had a peculiar freshness, a life that seemed to penetrate every portion of my frame, and impart to myself a new vitality.
“Breathe.”
To breathe in the gulf air as if for the first time -- inhaling slowly, methodically in such a way where the distinct, salty air is to be taken in to achieve a more tranquil state of mind. It was a welcomed change to have the air soothe the inner thoughts that incessantly and painfully remind of all that has occurred without will to alter. The stillness is no more and I am at ease. Gradually, the lingered air elevated into gentle breezes that aided the mind of a recurring visitor. Brushing against the water only to usher subtle, relentless rolls to crash along the shore in a caressing manner; all adverse doubts were removed with each stroke effortlessly rising and falling.
The sound, alone, of her breath had a way in forcing a better version of myself to protrude toward the surface, or could it have been the trusting ebb and flow of the genial waves extending a warm invitation for my eyes to venture off beyond the vastness of her body. Mesmerized, it is the hour in which a new day awakens. Even in small increments, the grandeur of light was breathtaking and a pleasure to behold as the rays reflected over the rippling water. Analogous to my earlier feelings, the sky began to change and brighten, but in a wide range of hues only painters dream in capturing. Upon baring witness to such magnificence, the realization of having to part returns familiar sorrow. Time was still. Even for a moment, the duration was trivial for the occurrence mattered, for I was lost, for I was there to live once more within the breaks.
