Bobby Prince - Big Gun (unused E2M1.mid)
It's of absolute no surprise to any DOOM fan the fact that Bobby Prince used riffs from some hard rock and heavy metal songs of the time for some of the songs of the game. Sometimes going as far as to making "rip offs" and getting away with it.
It also wasn't that much of a surprise when 10 years ago John Romero released a pack of unreleased MIDI files composed by Bobby Prince and people discovered that some of those MIDIs turned out to be 1:1 transcriptions of the actual songs. That's how good Bobby Prince is! No tabs needed!
This song is part of that release, the filename is "un44.mid" but it's actually an unused version of E2M1 (I Sawed The Demons), which is widely known to be based on a song by AC/DC called Big Gun, written for the movie "Last Action Hero" (released four months before DOOM's release in December of 1993!), starring Ahnold Schwarzenegger.
As you're about to hear, this version sounds a lot more to Big Gun rather than being I Sawed The Demons.
R.I.P. Malcolm Young.
[Heretic] Hell’s Maw: Part 1
I venture on to episode 2 of Heretic. The game becomes less like Doom at this point. If you approach Heretic exactly the same way as Doom, you WILL die.
At least you don’t have to be sneaky like in a Wolfenstein or Half-Life game… (those franchises are cool; it’s just that they play much differently.)
Anyway, new weapons and enemies lie ahead. I’ll show you. Do go down the ad-free rabbit hole that is my YouTube channel...
