tried to gently suggest we do one simple thing on our website - increase the font size on several pages - just to make it accessible for older folks, the vision impaired, and the less than internet savvy
No.
uhh okay well, I actually work with several older electricians every single week who have specifically told me they cant use the site because of things like this
apart from that, the average age of electricians has been going up for the last 30 years, trends indicate it’s certainly not getting younger any time soon
so are you just like, lazy? that you can’t simply boost the font size or bold it for the benefit of a considerable group of new and regular users?
or are you so spoiled with your own good vision at your tender age that you can’t imagine anyone else needing something different?
“I reviewed the font size in comparison to other sites and I believe it’s fine. Customers can always magnify their browser”
yeah okay, well what if they don’t know how to do that? some of our best customers are 60-70+ and they can’t figure out their own email, let alone navigating a wholesale supply website
piss off
it’s hard enough for me to see some of these pages - I’m 29 with decent up-close vision. I wouldn’t have even brought it up if I wasn’t actually asked about it directly several times.
you’re on the Marketing Team and in E-Comm development for Christ’s sake.
you can either proactively attempt to make things easier for this large and growing body of users, or you can do nothing and just hope for the best.
it upsets me how so many people are clearly happy to write off the elderly or the handicapped, and then wonder why we can’t hire people or bring in more customers
unreal
