Also, having finally played it all the way through, I still don’t like Edelgard. Do I understand her better, yes, do I even sort of understand why people who play CF first are the way they are, also yes. My first route (AM) definitely shaped my view of every single other route.

That being said, I still don’t get why Edelgard allies with the slithers. I just don’t understand it. I don’t see how she trusts information they give her, I don’t know why she turned all her ire on the Nabateans instead of the Agarthians. The dragons didn’t do zero bad things, but the Agarthians did more bad things, and Edelgard is *working* with them, the people responsible for killing her entire family, she’s *allied* with them because she believes some lies they told her about how the dragons are the root of all evil in the world. Like. Why.

I’m sorry, it just doesn’t make sense to me and it’s also one of her core beliefs. Granted, Rhea in Edelgard’s route deserves the hate she gets, but she’s not like that in any other route. Edelgard, however, is basically the same in every single route. Hers is the character least influenced by Byleth’s presence, in my opinion.

So Thanatos’s gift to Zagreus in Hades is actually like in and of itself a statement of support and hope for his success? Because Than’s gift let’s you do a percentage more damage for each encounter you clear without taking damage. It’s basically Than saying don’t die. Do the best you fucking can so you don’t die, so you can get out. It’s also possibly a challenge like “I know you can do better than you’re doing, here’s an incentive to step up your game, don’t get fucking complacent Zag.”

And l know other people have written stuff about how Than helps Zag out even though he’s sad and mad about Zag leaving, but this is such evidence of that sentiment. Than cares about Zag and even though he’s mad, when Zag makes a little bit of effort to explain himself and make amends by giving him the nectar, Than gives him this gift, this incentive to fight his best and to win. It’s Than saying he loves Zag even though Zag wants to leave. It’s like Zag is a Selkie and Than knows where his seal skin is: Than knows that to keep Zag here would be cruel, so even though he loves him, he lets him go, helps him leave.
