‘Cause in the morning, there’s a million names to choose from
This morning I dragged myself out of bed too early after staying up to digest the Presidential farewell (file under: emotional workout) and went to a Daybreaker event. Daybreaker is a series of morning events with fitness and dance parties, mostly in big cities. This one was a yoga class and dance party co-sponsored by a local events company called Sweatworking so I knew the yoga class would be solid if nothing else.
I couldn’t stay for the dance party because I had to get to work, I did see a lot of wacky costumery happening (tutus, monster hats) but the yoga was great. It was held in the very fancy Virgin Hotel (like the airline) and we were pretty much mat-to-mat, but it was easy to stay focused and the teaching was good. Lots of balance poses. There was a live DJ providing music (I assume the yoga was the more boring of his responsibilities). Afterward there was a pretty decent snack spread and more people joined as I snuck out. I felt pretty good after class but my wrists were crazy sore. I assume that is work’s fault though (laptop overuse...)
Tonight... I signed up for water aerobics. I have not been hacked. A friend, who I would like to see more often, posted that she was going to take this class, and oh by the way it’s $32 for TEN classes. Even if I have to miss a few (and I will), that is a STEAL. So that’s what I’m doing tonight, I have no idea what to expect but since I bothered to shave my legs I guess we’re on.
