Sting likes both, but he would much prefer Clear Skies as he loves the light and bathing in warm light. Don't get him wrong, he likes the rain and storms, but something about clear skies makes him happy....In his past memory he has a faint memory of a blond woman, a smile and many flowers bathed in warm sunlight. But that is all.

Sting find a a variety of things in nature calming. He finds rain to be rather soothing and calming and loves to listen to it as he sleeps. He also finds sunshine to be relaxing as well and will often slack off from work to sleep under a tree and take a nap. Though of course, then he is scolded by Rogue or Yukino for doing such a thing.
What he does find disagreeable is really windy days and as well as snow. He dislikes the cold, but will put up with it at times.

☛ :What is their typical response to being given orders?
To be honest, Sting hates it. He will roll his eyes and pout slightly. He acts rather childishly and also try to tune the person out. Though, if it is for a mission, he accepts it, but otherwise, he will grumble. His whole life, he was moved like a puppet and expected to be perfect so needless to say, he ain't one that likes to lose control. If someone tries to take control he loses grip on himself and will act arrogant toward the person giving orders. Thus, he faces consequences.

They would have a meltdown over failing. That is Sting's ultimate fear. He is legitimately terrified of losing and thus having his comrades, his guild mates get hurt. He fears if he falls in some shape way or form, they'll get hut. Or rather, he is also afraid of disappointing them and losing their trust.

Nope. Sting wouldn't. Moving on....

An action that shows trust is most likely Sting falling asleep on a person. He is rather open and friendly, so there isn't much to choose, but yes falling asleep on a person. Cause asleep he is vulnerable, and Sting dislikes or rather hates to show vulnerability to anyone, even those close to him. FYI, he's only fallen asleep on Rogue.
