Non Canon Guide to the Falmer Tongue: Hecta
As I mentioned in my previous NCGttFT, hecta is an interesting word. The official translation we have for hecta in relation to the Falmer language is simply âdo not [verb]â, as seen in Calcelmoâs stone:
Nu hecta sou arcten, rias nu nemalauta ge. Nu hecta sou epegandra, rias ne nemalauta ge.
Translated: âWe do not desire thanks, for we do not believe in it. We do not ask for gratitude, for we do not believe in it.â
Side note: I do like how Falmeri takes the German route of forming words. Just look at how seamlessly they smash epe (âto speakâ) and gandra (grace) together! Itâs gorgeous!
I say this is interesting as the Ayleidoon word for hecta, which much of Falmeris shares a language with, is closer to âexileâ than âdo no want forâ.
So naturally, Iâm going to analyze this far more than Betheda ever intended.
Letâs begin with the common thread that ties all Mer-tongue together: Tolkien, the OG Elvish conlang man. Hecta appears to be lifted directly from Tolkienâs Telerin language, which means âto abandon, reject, or forsakeâ. The Ayleids appear to hold the Tolkien translation closer to heart with their use of the word; to be hecta in ancient Cyrodill surely meant youâve done something to even make the flesh-crafters side eye you, and that is no small feat.
Unless, of course, hecta carried a very similar tone in Falmeri, and the stone translation is simply the best Tamrielic has to offer. The English tongue still doesnât have a suitable translation for toska, after all, and so with that in mind the Dwemer slab takes on a more interesting glean.
Itâs one thing to say âwe do not desire your thanksâ. Itâs a whole other to say âwe will not accept your thanksâ, or even âwe abandon entirely your gratitudeâ.
Simply put, words of gratitude or grace were outright refused. Not politely declined, but something that wasnât even an option because gratitude was so incompatible and wrong to the Dwemer. They not only denied whatever thanks the Falmer had, but did so with disgust. Hecta is on par with âleave, and never come backâ, and so the Falmer were told to never say thanks, and to perish any thought that it would ever be enough.
Simply because the Deep Elves did not believe in such sentiment.
And this, at least to me, speaks volumes, not only for Dwemer culture, but for the culture of the ancient Falmer.

from what iâve found every phone company ever sucks so what is even the point
oh no my friend, i dont really have much problem with their phone service. I have them for both home and cell phone, and tbh they're not that bad. i've never had any problems with that.
it's their goddamn internet service.Â
it's so shitty, and so weak, i cannot put into words my utter frustration (but im going to try to anyway). Like I said to dwemeri, i'm literally sitting next to the modem right now, and it's extremely slow and spotty. And I know it's not my laptop itself, because I've also had the problem on my ipad, my mom's ipad, and my 3DS. The internet is so weak, it can't reach to the living room or basement of my house, neither of which are far away. When I CAN connect, it's usually not for long because it will frequently disconnect, stall, or drop completely. On the blessed days when I can actually use the internet (and I use the term "use" very loosely) it's slower than a goddamn dead snail, and basically unusable. What's worse is I know I'm not the only one with this problem, because I've heard similar or damn near identical complaints from other customers.Â
most other companies might suck, but verizon is a literal pile of horse feces.Â
(sorry about that long and angry rant, im just annoyed unu)
