was that lee junyoung i just saw? could’ve sworn it was elias 'eli' rhee. weird. anyway, they’ve been in town for ten years and still haven’t left. must be because as a thirty year old mechanic, they’re pretty overprotective + stubborn. but hey, i heard they can be outgoing + observant as well. we’ll see them around the outskirts, for better or worse. they kind of remind me of the scent of cedar when coming from fishing or camping and tired eyes beneath the moonlight.

moving around a lot was what elias was used to. he moved five times from being a newborn to three years old. they stuck with living in danville for a little while when he was five years old - the house was on the outskirts where the walls were too thin and the creaky noises along with fighting noises were even louder.
his father was a veteran from war and has been living with them since his birth - being a mechanic was something he could rely on out of necessity instead of enjoyment. but his father wasn't a kind one at all - he's known as a mean drunk - not always violent.. but when he was, it was very unpredictable.
elias had to learn early on to stay small, to fix things, and make himself useful - it was kind of an armor for him. something his dad would push against him whenever he messed up on something and yet it only built his armor stronger as he grew. whenever something wasn't right then he'd get a smack to the back of the head or worse. some days he went to school with hidden bruises along his knees on hot summer days with wearing jeans.
this is where he was able to grow into having friendship with those in danville. not of confidants, but just a friend group that he kept close with as he grew up with them. around the age of ten, his mother disappeared with a written letter of explaining that she couldn't take it anymore. his father always blamed him for it, but he suspected the old man's hands were in it somehow. so he told people that she died, because in a way she did - to him.
learning from his dad and spending a lot of time in the garage, he was able to make money from elementary school into middle school with fixing up old things like broken lamps and simple things he can fix for people around in the outskirts. he traveled by his dinky old bicycle that his dad traded for one christmas - a rusted, worn down bicycle that he was able to fix with tinkering around on it a bit.
he gained a lot of friends through his time in danville. he was pretty chill to be around for the most part, but he enjoyed being around people. whatever it took to get him out of that house, by spending nights at his friends houses and so on. he wasn't a bubbly personality - but he was the kind of person that made people feel pretty ease around - able to laugh and make jokes, or just chill out in silent while he tinkered on some stuff.
elementary school is where he met sully. the two became great friends from a young age and into middle school too, but then came the sad part. his dad was moving again and he had to go with him - to missouri. he wrote and kept in contact with sully until he was eighteen, intentionally applying for college with a scholarship to be by sully's side. he has a degree in mechanical engineering when he came out of college!
it was a lot of talk between the two to come back to danville, but this is where he's been for the last ten years. alongside his longtime boyfriend who he absolutely adores with all of his heart - but there's something inside of him that wished to escape from danville. become an owner of his own mechanic shop and just.. breathe. but there were some activities that makes him feel a little more free from danville - fishing and camping - which was odd to come from someone who enjoys tinkering around with electronic things, but he can be in thought on days like those.
also he's in love with cars. he's currently fixing up a personal car of his own which is a thunderbird 1962. might also have a garage where he pays monthly to keep his cars in until he can get a garage installed at their place - if they're staying there!

elias is an active person who enjoys being outside more than inside on most days. camping and fishing is a safe place for him - whether he's alone or not - to really break out of his shell and not feel the need to be presence too much? despite his gruff exterior, he's a very lovable, dependable, and resourceful kind of person. who's overprotective when it comes to sully. around sully solely, he has two kinds of personality with him when they are alone versus around other people. with just sully, he's more known to be a lovable, physical touch, and playful person with him. around other people with sully, he can be chatty but he's still very much into physical touch and aware of his surroundings - focused on having fun but also making sure sully is alright too. it's like a combative stance - a golden retriever versus a doberman vibe? anyway - trust doesn't come easy for him, but once he knows? he's loyal to a complete fault - you have to point out to him where you messed up for him to open his eyes in realizing.. why you fucked up. i feel the need to point out that he's not a hothead unless pushed to that point - and it takes a lot to push him to that very point.
