While the Korean military scrambled it's defenses, Overwatch deployed from its nearest watchpoint with full force and swung into battle. The colossus intercepted several shipping vessels while still miles from the shore and destroyed them without hesitation before overwatch could intervene. The strike team was unaccustomed to fighting at sea which made the battle—and keeping the violence away from the city—a unique challenge.

For some members of the strike team this was an almost too welcome return to what they did best: an opportunity to remind the world why they had come together in the first place. For others, this was a grim introduction to the reality of what Overwatch had been formed to do, they could solve the worlds problems, they could save lives, but in the end, they would always be called back to battle, regardless of the other good they could do.

The colossus was beaten back and presumed destroyed, Liao sill had questions, citing some aspects of the warbot's design as unusual enough to warrant further study. She requested a long-term field assigment to South Korea, to study the remains and signal traces the colossus had left behind. Here, Overwatch ran up against significant resistance in establishing a permanent base in the country, and the matter was dropped.

The Korean military did release the pieces of the warbot that had been recovered go Liao for analysis. Many at the time shared her concerns about a hostile human goverment possibly having control of an unknown omnium but without additional evidence supporting her theories they could only be logged, not acted upon.

Liao studied the matter for months, but she would not have a chance to report her findings before renewed agression the East China Sea.
