Id had all happened so fast.Â
One moment he was on her bed, on her arms; the other he was out to a mission from which he would never return. Her dragon, her powerful mage, her mate dead. Killed by a rouge group of dragons living in Asshia, a random attack that no one could explain.
Jezebel was inconsolable. The pain was all too real, all too fresh.Â
But she had no time to mourn. She was carrying two eggs. More than ever, the duchess felt lost - not knowing what to do, slowly eating her sanity. She moved to her castle, where her concubines and servants did all they could to keep her healthy, but her mind was broken. As soon as they were laid, Fairuza was quick to take them from her. Without her mate, Jezebel would never be able to warm the eggs properly and her children would die on their shell.Once again alone, the demones only got worse.Â
When her two boys were born, she couldn’t even leave her palace to see them.Â
She couldn’t choose their names (Mirza and Demarion, she was informed, both named by Fairuza herself). She couldn’t see the color of their eyes. She couldn’t touch them. She couldn’t even leave her bed.
It took one full year for her to be able to see them. Fairuza had agreed to be close, to prevent Jezebel of doing something she would regret. She wasn’t even fit to be alone with her children. She wasn’t allowed to. She tried her best to get better... but her mother in law - and everyone else - did not trust her.Â
Ten years after and she still only wears white (the grieving color of a widow). She is still not allowed to have her children living with her. Depression and self-mutilation arestill present. But she is getting better, and her sons visit her every week. Demarion is closer, he takes care of her. Mirza... is distant, fearful and resentful. If only Tarsa was there...
Jezebel is known now as the white duchess, the widow ghost of the Citadel. A mere shadow of whom she once was.
When rumors of the dragon duke return begin to emerge, she pushed them away. Jezebel believed them to be a trick on her mind. Mean lies spread to make fun of her. At least that’s what she thought... until she got a visit from said duke.
