***
I really want a dog. My boyfriend Rip though, hates dogs. But I will do anything to talk him into letting me have one. When I say anything I mean anything. Have you seen the adorable faces of those little border collies, or the pugs, maybe even a pit bull. I will accept anything as long as it is in dog form.

Y/n's pov
Its another day and that means its day three of talking Rip into letting me have a dog. The first two days was busts and he brushed it off like it was nothing but today I am going to go full force into my games.
I woke up beside Rip in our shared bed in the foremans cabin. So I decided to go and make him a cup of coffee. He was still asleep when I returned to the bedroom with a cup of coffee in hand so I decided to wake him up with a good morning kiss. I leant down and kissed his lips softly to give him time to wake up and decide what he wanted to do. He woke up in no time and kissed me without hesitation while he wrapped his strong arms around me and pulled me closer to his body.
"Good morning baby" I whispered to him when we pulled apart.
"Good morning for sure. I like to start all my mornings like that" he chuckled with a small smile on his face.
"I made you a cup of coffee" I said and handed him the cup of coffee when he sat up in bed.
"Thanks sweetheart" he said as he took a sip of his coffee before really looking at the cup.
I may or may not have went to the store and got a cup that was all black and said "I â¤ď¸ Dogs" on it in big bold letters.
"Darling. what is this" Rip asked calmly.
"I thought the cup was cute when I saw it and I love dogs so much so I got it. I thought you could use it this morning" I explained to him briefly.
"Can we not start my good morning with a conversation about dogs. We are not getting a dog" Rip groaned as he sat his cup on the night stand and layed back down.
"Why. I want a dog so bad Rip. Please, for me" I begged.
"Dogs smell, they are annoying, and we don't have time to take care of one of one between our work baby. You know this" he explained to me.
"UGH. You are such a bitch" I groaned as I made my way out of our room and to the kitchen.
I already got dressed this morning so I got my cup of coffee and went out the door as Rip called behind me to come back.
The walk to the barn wasn't long and I saw Carter in the barn doing his work.
"Morning Carter. Your the first one here this time I see" I said as I grabbed a wheel barrel and pushed it over so I could help him clean out the stalls.
I come in early some mornings just to give him a hand. Hes young and could use a little help sometimes.
"Nope" he sighed as he pointed out the door to my dad and Kayce riding through the field.
I'm a Dutton if you haven't figured that out yet.
"They don't matter. YOU was the first one here to do your work. YOU was the one who got up early to make sure everything in the barn was in order. And it is YOU who cleanes out the stalls for everyones horses" I gave him a short pep talk.
"Yeah your right" he smiled as he went back to work.
We worked and chatted a bit before I had to get ready to go and herd cattle. We are taking some cows to the sales so we have to get to work pretty early. I saddled up my horse while giving Carter some tips on how to saddle it and how to make sure everything is safe and in order. After exchanging a few goodbyes I left Carter to his work and led my horse out to where the rest of the Wranglers was and I saw Rip standing with them all drinking out of the "I â¤ď¸ Dogs" cup.
"I thought you hated dogs" Ryan jabbed at him.
"I do. Y/n, loves them unfortenatly" he sighed.
"You need to get that girl a dog. She's bound to break up with you if you don't man. All she talks about is how bad she wants a dog and how you won't let her have one" Ryan said.
Ryan's the best wingman. He too wants me to get a dog so he can be the godfather and have rights to play dates and dogsitting.
Rip saw me coming over and quickly shut down the conversation.
"Get the work Ryan" Rip growled and sent Ryan on his way.
"I see your still using your cup, asshole" I said as I approached my oh so annoying boyfriend.
"I wasn't about to waste a perfectly good cup of coffee.
I was about to send another jab at him but he interuppted me.
"After we are done today meet me up at the main house" Rip told me and walked off.
I was confused but I went on with my day.
~Time skip to after the work is all over brought to you by Jimmy falling off his horse~
Today was a tough day and I was so tired. But I found that last wind to walk all the way up to the main house to see what Rip wanted. I saw him walk off awhile ago and already head up there.
Once I made it to the house I walked through the door and called out for someone.
"In the living room auntie" I heard my nephew Tate yell back.
I entered to see him, Rip, my dad, and Kayce sitting on the couches and chairs.
"Why does it feel like I just entered a therapy session" I asked as I tentavily entered the room.
"We have gathered together today, to discuss your obsession with dogs. We have noticed that you have been rather down lately and its affecting your work" Kayce is taking charge of this session I see.
"It's changing you as a person and its scaring me Darling" Rip added.
"So we have been looking high and low for the right medicines for you" my dad added.
Oh my lord they are sending me to an asylum.
"And I, Tate Dutton, found the cure" Tate said as he exited the room.
This was very strange but when Tate re-entered the room I almost burst into tears. He was carrying a puppy in his arms with a bow on top of its head.
"Oh my god" I cried as Tate placed my favorite kind of puppy in my arms.
"I never meant for you to hate me for not liking dogs. I was just trying to not seem suspicous as we was looking for the right dog for you" Rip said to me as he came up beside me and kissed my cheek.
"I never hated you, I love you Rip Wheeler, so fucking much" I cried as I held my puppy up and gave it a big hug.
"Um wheres my love, I found the dog" Tate asked expectantly.
"His friend from school had puppies for sale and it just happened to be your favorite kind" Kayce explained.
"Thank you Tate, you are the bestest nephew I could ever ask for" I told him sat my puppy in Rips arms who grimaced and held it away from his body as I gave Tate a hug, then Kayce, and my dad.
"Now I suggest you get that puppy home and settled in. Goodnight" my dad said as he ussured Rip and I out the door.
I took my puppy back and Rip and I walked back to our home in silence. I could tell he didn't like the idea of having a dog but he loved me and would do anything for me.
"So, got any name suggestions" I asked as Rip and I layed in our bed after helping the puppy settle in and now its laying at our feet.
In the end, Rip and our dog became best friends. He wouldn't admit it but that dog was like a kid to him and if anyone asked he would say he still hated dogs. He even helped pick out the name. I knew that dog got to close with him when Rip didn't want to have sex because the dog was asleep on the bed and he didn't want to wake it. What a cockblock. The bunkhouse bitches, mainly Ryan, would dogsit any night we asked because that dog became like another ranch hand but it recieved its pay checks in dog bones. But I loved my dog more than anything alongside my boyfriend and later, husband.

Dutton Ranchâs Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser Take the Reins on the Yellowstone Spinoff Set in Texas: âItâs Like Going to the Moonâ
Love, loyalty and that same old hat. The actors who play Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler take us inside their new Paramount+ series
The smell of hay lingers in the air, but horses are nowhere to be found. Instead, Kelly Reilly, clad in a denim-on-denim look with Saint Laurent boots that have no place in a barn, is leaning over a photo monitor to sneak a peek at her People shoot in a Manhattan studio. Sheâs joined by a familiar face. âItâs so nice to get to do this as Kelly and Cole,â says Reilly. âUsually itâs Beth and Rip.â When the costars sit down for an interview a little while later, Cole Hauser concurs: âItâs a big difference, isnât it?â
Reilly, 48, and Hauser, 51, are coming up on a decade as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, first introduced at the beginning of Yellowstone in 2018 and now about to launch their own spinoff, Dutton Ranch, May 15 on Paramount+.
đ¸ Eric Michael Roy
Beth, the daughter of the late John Dutton (Kevin Costner), and Rip, Johnâs longtime ranch foreman and fixer, were in an unforgettable sort of fiery, messy love from the showâs beginning and tied the knot in the season 4 finale. Both characters are fiercely loyal to the very few people they trustâand not afraid of a little violence in order to protect them.Â
In real life the actors are far more affable. The ease between them is palpable as they finish each otherâs sentences while describing being reunited for the first time since they wrapped filming in early March:
KELLY REILLY: When weâre in character and weâre on-set, thereâs such a level of concentration⌠COLE HAUSER: Itâs intense. REILLY: And weâve got a really big job to do. HAUSER: Especially this year. REILLY: We both care a lot, and we both are slightly obsessive about it. So we are both in our own world and very rarely get to just⌠HAUSER: Hang out⌠REILLY: And just be together. HAUSER: Itâs true. REILLY: I feel so comfortable. This is just nice.Â

WHERE WE LEFT OFF
As the sun set on Yellowstone, John Dutton was dead, killed at the hands of an assassin hired by Jamieâs (Wes Bentley) girlfriend, and his remaining children, Beth and Kayce (Luke Grimes), sold the massive Yellowstone Ranch back to the Broken Rock Reservation.
At the beginning of Dutton Ranch, set about a year later, a more mature Beth, Rip and Carter (Finn Little), their adoptive teenage son, have left Montana and are settling into a new home in small-town Texas.
âBeth and Rip were always such warriors, and theyâre hoping that they may not have to be warriors,â says Reilly. âThey're always going to protect each other. They were protecting a place and a dream of John Duttonâs for five seasons. Now that cycle, that burden is over. It's dead. And so, who are they together now?â
The move to a new state and a new landscape will mean new challenges for the family. In Montana âthey were the top dogs,â Reilly says. âNow theyâre the strangers.â

âItâs like going to the moon for these characters,â says Hauser, noting that Rip will face a significant language barrier as his workers all speak Spanish. âThey don't know the land or the people or the environment.â
Reilly quickly adds, âAnd they don't know them. They don't know who these guys are. They don't know what they're dealing with.â
Among the unsuspecting locals are Beth and Ripâs new neighbors, a grizzled veterinarian and Navy veteran who befriends Beth (played by Ed Harris), and the boss at the townâs big ranch (Annette Bening).
âWe needed some heavyweights alongside us to tell a new story,â Reilly says of Harris and Bening. âWeâre deeply flattered that they wanted to come on to a show with us.â

âThe opportunity and honor to work with Ed was a dream come true,â adds Hauser. âHe's just as good of a person, as he is an actor. And Annette is wild and fun and smart.â
The actorsâ affection for Little, 19, is also evident every time Carter comes up. âHe's just grown with us, and we love him,â says Reilly.Â
âWe've been a part of his most formidable years as a young man,â says Hauser. âAnd so, to see him grow not only off the screen, but on the screen as an actor, he has so much talent, and it's just oozing out of him.â

THE LOVE STORY
When Yellowstone debuted, the characters of Beth and Rip were single, and, in a rare move on television today, theyâve only ever had eyes for each other.
âThere was such a history of Beth and Rip and what they meant to each other,â Reilly says of the characters whose romance first began when they were teens. âBut she was pretty awful to him at the beginning [of the show].â
âI actually thought it was funny. I'm a little sick that way,â Hauser responds with a laugh. âI thought the relationship was so bizarre, and [creator] Taylor Sheridan took such a great risk with starting the characters the way that he did. That gave room for Kelly and me to be able to take even more risks with them and play."
"And that's the thing that Taylor does as a writer is that he gives you this freedom, whether you know it or not, to actually really be creative and try new things," Hauser adds. "The Beth-Rip relationship, it's so much different than any other relationship I've ever had on camera. It's hot, it's cold, it's beautiful, it's angry, it's passionate.â

The characters later found a rhythm and a steadiness within each other that will carry them into the new series. âHe allows her to be who she is, and she just will do anything for him,â says Reilly.
Adds Hauser: âAnd when they're hurting, they're there for each other, which is so beautiful. I can tell when she's not doing well. She can tell when I'm hurting.â
As the actors finished filming Yellowstone, Hauser says, they âdidnât knowâ if there would be a future for Beth and Rip onscreen, but âthere were hopes.â
âIt's an honor to be in a show that was so loved and play characters that were so loved,â Reilly says. âYou could end it where it ended with Yellowstone. It did end.â
But after what had been a tumultuous season 5âwhich saw a long pause in filming because of Costnerâs departure and the Hollywood strikesâReilly and Hauser didnât have much of an extended break before putting Bethâs and Ripâs boots back on.
âThe last season of Yellowstone was such an emotional thing," says Reilly. "We finished filming in, I think, September 2024, and then we started up again in June or July and were talking about it all the time. So it didn't really feel like a big break.⌠The train was going, and we had to be on it.â

THE TAYLOR SHERIDAN EFFECT
Reilly and Hauser arenât just the first names on the call sheet for Dutton Ranch: Theyâre also executive producers. Sheridan, who created Yellowstone and wrote every episode, remains an executive producer on the new series, but the two actors have taken a stronger leadership position.
âIt was more responsibility, to be quite honest, which I think Kelly and I took on and enjoyed, for the most part,â says Hauser. âWe put a lot of work into the continuation of the show with [director, cinematographer and executive producer] Christina Alexandra Voros, with [showrunner] Chad Feehan and everybody else that was part of it.â
âWe've lived with these characters. It doesn't mean we know everything about them, but there was a handing over the reins to us, to a certain extent, which lends us to find our own voice and opinion about them and where they are now,â says Reilly. âSo we feel a responsibility to honor them and bring them forward.â
Cole Hauser in a Brioni full look. đ¸ Eric Michael Roy
While Sheridan may not have a hand in the day-to-day work on Dutton, he certainly still looms large.
âTaylor Sheridan is one of the best writers in this country right now, and we are his characters,â says Reilly. âHe's always in our minds as we're making this, and they are big boots to fill. It's because of him that we're here.â
Dutton Ranchâs Beth and Rip are in Texas, but itâs unclear if theyâll cross paths with the Four Sixes Ranch featured in Yellowstoneâor Jimmy (Jefferson White) and Teeter (Jennifer Landon), who were working there at the end of the series.
What about Grimesâs Kayce Dutton who stars in the other Yellowstone spinoff Marshals?
âI'm so proud of Luke, and we love him so much, and I miss him,â says Reilly before teasing, âI wish we had a crossover. Maybe we will in the future.â

A few staples you can count on returning to Dutton Ranch? âI haven't changed my hat in almost 10 years or my jacket,â says Hauser. âThe jeans, they fall apart, obviously. And I've gone through a couple boots, but Rip ain't changing for nobody.â
THEIR OWN RIDE OR DIES
With new pressures at work, Hauser and Reilly are both grateful to have support at home. Reilly has been married to financier Kyle Baugher for nearly 14 years. Hauser and actress Cynthia Daniel have been married for 19 and share three children.
âMy wife is very proud of us,â Hauser says. âShe knows how difficult I can be at timesâI'm a pretty hardheaded guyâso she loves to see the softer side of me in acting. And I think Taylor [Sheridan] did a great job of opening that side up for me early on with Beth and with Kelly, and she loves seeing that.â Oh and âshe f---ing thinks Kelly's a badass.â
Shooting Dutton Ranch meant the actors were away from their families for eight months.
âThere's an extreme amount of dedication that we've put into the last 10 years,â says Hauser. âNothing is ever smooth. You're always going to have challenges, and Cynthia and Kyle have been there for that and been supportive.â
Dutton Ranch premieres Friday, May 15 on Paramount+ and Paramount Network.
