âDutt Plugâ lands in Darlinghurst
A new piece of street art depicting Opposition Leader Peter Dutton as a butt plug has appeared in Sydney, just days before Australians head to the polls.
The mural, painted by controversial street artist Scott Marsh, portrays Dutton as a sex toy named âThe Dutt Plugâ.
âPre-lubricated with corporate influence,â words on the mural read.
âMade from 100% recycled campaign tropes.
âGuaranteed backdoor deals.â
Reddit user âBroomfondl3â commented: âRight where he belongs, in the shi**er.â
The mural covers the wall of a Victorian-era terrace house in Darlinghurstâs Liverpool Lane.
Itâs located a short walk from Oxford Street, long considered the âmain street of LGBTQIA+ Australiaâ and home to the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.
Marshâs murals
Marsh has a long history of lampooning political and social figures, particularly from the conservative side of the fence.
Many have related to the LGBTQIA+ community issues or figures related to the community.
In 2017, during the marriage equality debate, Marsh painted a mural of former Prime Minister Tony Abbott marrying himself.
He told Triple-Jâs The Hack the mural was a statement on Abbottâs opposition to same-sex marriage.
âWhen Tony Abbott released that video promoting the âNoâ vote, you could almost hear the whole country going, âWhat the f**k?ââ Marsh said.
âPersonally if thereâs one thing that Tony Abbottâs been shown to love, itâs Tony Abbott.â

Another mural, on the wall of the Botany View Hotel in Newtown, depicted Tony Abbott and the late Catholic Cardinal George Pell as lovers.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that it was later painted over by three âreligious dudesâ.
Marsh completed several other murals of George Pell around Sydney, usually referencing child abuse allegations surrounding the anti-gay cardinal.
Other notable works include âSaint Georgeâ, a 20-foot-tall mural of the late gay pop superstar George Michael, located on Bray Street in inner city Erskineville.
