Guardians: Some cats may choose to trade their warrior duties for spending all of their time in the nursery. This may seem like an easy life, but these cats have many responsibilities on their shoulders. It is their job to protect the nursery, take care of kits when their dams are away, and manage the wellbeing of all of the cats in the nursery. They are usually strong and fierce fighters, as well as compassionate and caring parental figures. Often, they will learn some basic medicine from the healer, as well as the kitting process so that they can help the queens, especially if the healer is unavailable. This position is usually taken by mollies, but is not exclusively a molly position, and more than a few toms have been known to become guardians. There are usually only one or two at any given time due to limited space in nurseries.

The RiftClan queens! 

- Meadowmoth, a fighter who has since become a permaqueen. She’s kind and fiercely protective, but tends to be naive. Her kits are Oceaneyes and Blitz (formerly Lightningpaw), and she is the unofficial adoptive mother of Brightnose, Dustplume, and Minkpaw.

- Pikapelt, a scout and one of Screestar’s two kits. She is aloof and never says much, and is only really open to her mate Flintclaw and her friend Dustplume. Her kits are Rubblekit, Peakkit, and Kitekit.

- Dustplume, a hunter and the youngest of the three queens. She is sweet and optimistic, and tries to see the good in everyone. Her kit is Hailkit.

- Fleetfox dreams about a lot of things, sometimes about hunting with Splinterfang, Strikenose and her brothers and sometimes about maybe one day being leader of PineClan. There are times every once in a while when she meets her mother Doestream in her dreamscape. She often has nightmares about Tangleflower as a result of the trauma she caused her, nightmares about killing her friends or being dragged into the Dark Forest by her old mentor’s claws. Nightmares about if the coup had succeeded, and nightmares about Strikenose turning on her. Luckily, her friends and family are always there to comfort her when this happens.

- Dustplume’s family is a fairly small one. She and her brother Brightnose’s parents Starlingfur and Palestripe died when they were kits, having frozen to death after getting lost in a sudden snowstorm, and the two were adopted by Starlingfur’s sister Meadowmoth. She also has her loving mate Chervilstep, and her only kit Hailfur. She isn't very close with her cousins; Oceaneyes is very aloof, Lightningpaw left the clan to be a kittypet with his father, and Minksnout is a little too young for her to be very close to.
