Aveline is the manager of The Cobweb & Candle inn, Duskhollow's primary lodging for travellers to the eternally spooky town. She's seen everything from the supernatural to monster girls and even horrors beyond comprehension - everyone needs a place to rest.
Under Aveline's management is a vampire, a demon and an interdimensional cheshire cat - which really begs the question... What is Aveline and why is she worth being above all three of them?
Hello! Your art style is truly beautiful, Mimi is such a cute character, and I love the way you designed Robin! I've always liked her eyes in the canon, but hey, I'm starting to think those chocolate-coloured eyes suit her perfectly. Anyway, I need to focus. I was going to ask you something about your last post, you know? Lysander. Frankly, Lysander's a very beautiful being, statuesque I would say (I'm going to be honest, I think I've fallen in love). No, but seriously, you know what I like about it? Your PC intrigues me, I want to know more! In your post, you say that for now Lysander is just a pretty face, but is there any information, no matter how trivial or simple, that you can (and want to, of course) share? Don't feel obligated to answer, I was just curious! Anyway, I'll leave you to your art, keep it up! Have a good day!đ€
First of all thank you for the compliments on Mimi and Robin! I love both her brown eyes in the manga and teal in the anime and just had to combine them because I simply cant decide haha.
But yes! Onto Lysander, gosh the effect he has on people is exactly as I intend haha he is supposed to be very enchanting and very beautiful, as he is cursed to be so. But he's also cursed to be only that, and nothing more, he's supposed to be the beautiful face you pass by but don't remember quite right, just that he was simply beautiful...
There is a lot of lore that is mainly written in short stories about the trio he's in, it's Lysander, Vaelric and Soren, Lysander being the main character since it mainly centers around him and the love triangle of the three of them, Vaelric being the one who cursed him and Soren being the one who cursed herself to stay beside him.
Funnily enough Lysander is the only one of the trio that has one of these charts, I really need to go back and do up the other two but since you're asking about him it'll have to do!
Their story basically has two sides, medieval fantasy era which is very early on so Lysander's days as a mortal harlot, meeting Vaelric and then being cursed and just roaming for centuries being haunted by him. The other side is the modern fantasy era where they FINALLY made amends (yes it took THAT LONG) and the three of them become professors at a school for magical immortals! Which all three of them (Lysander, Vaelric and Soren) are immortal in different ways, Lysander is cursed and frozen in time he can't age or die or even cut his hair, Vaelric is shadow incarnate so without shadow he is gone (Vaelric is also a very powerful archmage) and Soren is a vampire so she is unaging but unlike the other two she can be killed
Thank you for asking about him he's my favourite oc I've ever made and I love when people take interest in their story đ„șđ I'll pop some more art here that hasn't been posted yet!
medieval era Lysanders, first two arts by me, second two are by IamLevil and aidenhatestrawbs respectively
Vaelric and Lysander (Soren cropped out because her design here is outdated and wrong)
Lysander pre-curse đ€ What a cutie
I did these fully rendered pieces for the trio (Vaelric, Lysander and Soren in that order!) in modern times and then fell into my one piece obsession shortly after and never had the time or energy to go back to this style đ

The journey had been long and hard on the troops as they moved through the mountainous terrain to reach Lordaeron. The warchief, Sylvanas Windrunner, had called for the aid of the entire Horde and whether he approved of her or not, he still was a part of the Horde. He was lord of his home and had civilians that represented his banner. Those that were loyal to him and his name. The days in which they were stationed there were long though he managed to send a raven with his letters to Elenaris and his young daughter, Maevyn, daily. They were the fire that stoked his icy heart and his one, continuous tether to this living world. When the word had been given for the respective forces to return to this cities, their homes, and their families Cineas had ordered Ebonheart to inform the men and women that they were to pack up so that they could make their way to Ravenhill come first light. He found himself slightly shocked to notice that he was traveling back home with nearly half the soldiers that he had reported with. Those missing had either become casualties or fled the battle whether it was the former or the latter would only be determined once the battle fields were able to be combed over after the blight settled and no one entirely knew when that would be.
The ominous tower that stood atop Ravenhill could be seen on the winding mountain that it sat atop just outside of Quelâthalas. Being outside of the city allowed it to experience all of the seasons that the Ghostlands could provide. âLet us make haste,â he stated with a nod to the armored man at his side and spurred his horse onwards. The steed was tired and grunted uncomfortably but Cineas knew that there was only a small bit further before the horse could rest for some time. The large, wooden doors that stood within the wall of Ravenhill creaked loudly as they were opened by the doors winding gears and the caravan of troops had slowed as their hooves echoed along the cobblestone road. âEbonheart,â Cineas directed as he now placed his attention towards the death knight at his side. âInform the troops that they may go home to their families and loved ones. We will require no work for a weeks time for those that fought under this banner and every household, regardless of if man or women returned today, will receive a bounty of food on behalf of my household.â It was rare that Cineas ever did anything that did not benefit him personally and while one could argue that this did benefit, those that fought brought honor to him and his name and it would not soon be forgotten.
Without giving the death knight time to respond to him, Cineas spurred his horse ahead of the group so that he could make his way towards the castle that sat at the top of the hill where he knew that Elenaris had been alerted to his return. The few remaining soldiers that were among their personal guard stood at full attention as he crossed through the smaller wall that defended the castle and he dismounted the steed in the courtyard as he glanced around to take note of Cindel. His armor made a heavy clunking noise as he came into contact with the stones beneath him and he bowed his head to his wifeâs attendant. âMy wife?â He questioned however without a moment passing, his eyes flitted upwards to take note of the elegant woman who he called his home standing atop the stairs that led into the castle itself.
The nights alone had proven to be difficult and lonely when Cineas had left to heed the call of their Warchief. It was no secret Elenaris disapproved of most of the Hordeâs actions and the Horde itself but Sylvanas Windrunner was a leader she could stand behind and her assault against the Alliance was one the dark priestess reveled in. It was odd, being left behind during such a time when she would typically be out lending her own hand in what was going on in the world but not this time. No, firstly she had to recover from her near release to the void plane following a rigorous child birth but even more importantly, she had to stay behind to be with her daughter. Little Maevyn was born with the lightest dusting of black hair, long raven locks were sure to follow.
She had been a bit of a fussy child, but now as she rested in her motherâs arms to greet the Lord of the house, her father, home, she was soundly quiet. âWelcome home, Lord Duskhollow. Weâve been eagerly awaiting your return,â Elenaris spoke in a low tone as she often did, her voice cooing down the stairs before she began to slowly descend toward him.
The ascent up the stairs was taken two at a time to hastily close the distance between the two of them. He had gone too long without the embrace of his wife and the feeling of his daughter in his arms. Now it seemed as though his only desire was to be back in their company without parting again. He knew that with the battle ending was only the beginning and that this war had only just begun. He feared for the status and safety of his family now. Ravenhill was not far from Lordaeron and in the back of his mind he knew that his family would need to strongly consider relocation.
âLady Duskhollow,â he greeted with the faintest of smirks and a fluid bow of his body. Upon rising to his full height, he closed the distance between the two of them and removed one of the sturdy, leather gloves from his fingertips. His fingers delicately ran along the forehead of his sleeping child and they lightly tousled with her dark strands of her. âI trust our heir has been in good health in my absence as yours seems to be returning as well.â His hand moved from the child's head to affectionately cup the jawline of his wife.
Little Maevyn cooed softly as his hand met her delicate skin but she did not stir awake. Elenaris watched the affectionate encounter with a light smile before looking up to her husband and leaning into his hand once it came to her own face. âI am doing better and sheâs been perfect. Missing her father, of course, as have I⊠itâs nice to have you home once again, my dear,â she leaned forward to press her lips softly against his own for a brief kiss despite how she yearned for more than the subtle gesture.
As she pulled away, her cradled arms lifted slightly toward him as she raised a brow. âIt has been some time since you have held her,â it was only then with the slight movement that the small babe shifted in her swaddled nature and her eyes fluttered open to reveal the faint glowing hue behind her previously closed lids. Â âSeems she knows that you are home.â
Elenaris had been correct that it had been sometime since he held his daughter in his arms. It was as if Cineas would not let her go prior to his departure but war had no ties to family no matter how new the addition. He smiled, fully, as his arms extended and he took the baby from her grasp to admire the faintly glowing eyes of his child. No longer did the elves pass along their emerald colored eyes and part of him swelled at that. The connection to the fel at the result of his ancestors made him cringe outwardly. It spat on everything his connection with the void was to him. Though with the purification of the Sunwell and the Sinâdorei of the now not needing the sustenance from fel any longer, there was an overall sense of relief. âShe seems to be powerful already,â Cineas jested as he nodded towards the top of the staircase and the large, wooden doors that were still held open by the guards. âLet us get inside and out of this chill.â
He hadnât waited much longer for her to agree before he began his ascent up the stairs of the castle and into the place he had called home for all of his life. The halls were ever familiar, dimly lit by candles and, in some places, lanterns and he turned to face the blonde woman as the doors closed behind their entourage. âMother? Has she been docile as of late, I hope.â He suggested and spun swiftly at the sound of the elderly womanâs voice coming from the dining room. âThatâs no way to refer to the one who gave you life, Cineas. Iâve been more than helpful to Lady...Duskhollow since your departure to the war.â
Elenaris plucked the smallest bit of fabric from her gown between her fingertips to lift up her hem just slightly as she nodded in silent agreement to him before following in behind his steps to return just inside the door where some symbol of warmth greeted them. As they came to a rest, her palms smoothed out any wrinkles the action might have caused while she gave a soft sigh. Her brow rose at the request of Cineasâ mother and before she could reply, Synida arrived just as expected.
âMm...yes, quite,â Elenaris said in addition to the elder womanâs words but quickly moved from the topic. âWe heard news of the Warchiefâs actions against Loraderon⊠is it true? Has the Undercity been completely purged?â The tone of her voice would be hard to decipher, it teetered on the edge of relief and concern and knowing her, she had a lue of reasons behind either emotion in regards to Sylvanas, the Forsaken, and their home.
Cineas held his daughter firmly within his arms as he rocked her gently, cooing in a calming manner as his mother and wife exchanged a few words. Elenarisâ question had caught him off guard momentarily and he froze as his eyes slowly moved upwards towards the woman. He had never been afraid at completely expressing himself and his thoughts to her but the news of the battle was something that left a lump in his throat. He was never entirely sure how he felt about the blight and heâd preferred if it wasnât used all together. He sighed slowly before answering. âYes, Lady Windrunner flooded the city with blight that would harm bot the living and the undead.â His gaze had dropped from her as his attention reverted back to the child.
âWe had the upper hand on the Alliance until the arrival of Lady Proudmoore and we were pushed back. When the retreat had been declared, the blight was unleashed. The city will be uninhabitable for some time moving forward.â He smiled at little Maevyn after he finished speaking and gently ran his finger tips over her darkened hair. âI had wanted to have this discussion after we all had time to settle, but I think it best that we depart Ravenhill depending on the actions of the Alliance moving forward.â
Elenarisâ gaze fell to Maevyn with a soft sigh, her jaws giving away the tense feelings that his story had brought. She had heard rumors, even the faintest sounds of war from the distance, but she had no idea their warchief had gone to such lengths just to secure this victory. It was in that moment that Elenaris began to feel she could have more of a connection with and support the Dark Lady a little more than she had before.
Her lips twitch just slightly into a grin but it quickly moved disappeared at this final words. She flicked up gaze up to him in surprise and while she did miss her familyâs manor, she had made a home here at Ravenhill that was just a deep as her roots in QuelâDanas. âYou want to leave Ravenhill? Completely abandon it?â Elenaris asked as her eyes hesitantly looked to Synida and then back to Cineas. âWe cannot just leave your home to rot and eventually fall to the Alliance⊠But QuelâDanas has been upheld if it must be done. If you think it will be unsafe for us, for her, then I think we should.â
Cineas inhaled rather deeply as he motioned for the entourage to follow him into the dining hall as he took as seat at the head of the table and he cradled his daughter in his arms. He bounded slightly, rocking her back into a slumber as a slight smile tugged on his features as he watched her with great admiration. âI do not want to leave it,â Cineas replied rather quickly as he glanced between his golden haired wife and his elderly mother. âThe Duskhollowâs have occupied this land for generations and those that tend to it have lived here for just as long. However, I am not a stupid man nor am I green in the ways of war. When the Alliance come, and they will come, we are in a direct path to Quelâthalas.â He breathed as he gestured for one of the servants to bring him wine. It had been far too long since he had some of the Eventide stock at his disposal.
âI am looking into some ratherâŠâ He paused as he nodded at the servant and quickly grabbed the chalice to take a sip of the liquid. âInteresting magics with our newly acquired allies: the Shalâdorei.â He knew that Elenaris might have been disapproving of such alliances but they were elves and allies to the Horde after all and they were left with little choice. âHowever, to ensure the safety of our family, I would prefer that we move to safer conditions. You have not fully regained your strength, my love, and mother, simple magic drains your energy to the point of fragility and while I can feel the power within little Maevyn, sheâs just a child. We must preserve this bloodline over this home.â
Elenaris followed behind him gladly, glancing over to Synida as they walked toward the dining room and eventually would take their seats. She looked down to Maevyn in his arms and smiled. It was a sight she had always thought would never be hers, a child of her own bloodline and that of a man worthy to make such a wonderful being with. When Cineas mention the Nigthborne elves, she raised a brow curiously as expected. âThe Shalâdorei? What use of their magic do you have need for?â
When he had asked for a glass of wine, she too waved to the servant to request her own, despite the possible glare that she might receive from her husband. She then looked to Synida once more curious of what her thoughts were on leaving Ravenhill, the home she had known for years beyond her own. âIf QuelâDanas is the safest place for our family then it is a decision that is not hard to make. We can leave a small force here to look after the estate and see that it is taken care of in our absence. If and when things settled in the surrounding areas, we can return.â
Elenaris asking for a glass of wine had brought a slight arching to his brow as he had been so adjusted to Elenaris avoiding the sweet liquid but he immediately began to smirk slightly at the image of her taking a sip from the wine. âI need their use of cloaking.â Cineas replied to her as he moved to take another long, indulgent sip of the wine. âTheir city in Suramar was protected, yes, by a large barrier but they are rather skilled in cloaking magic that I feel could be effective in hiding Ravenhill from plain sight.â His gaze slowly transitioned between his wife and his mother before he flickered down to his daughter and gently rocked her as she made a content sound. âI do not want to involve the Council in Silvermoon as I do not trust those outside of this room, save for a few, to ensure our safety.â
With that, the door to the dining hall opened quickly and Ebonheart was revealed in the fullness of his plate armor as he bowed his head before taking his stance next to the door. âWe must not instill fear into those that call this place home. Iâve already instructed Ebonheart to inform the townspeople that we will be providing them with feasts for the remainder of the week and something special for the families that lost someone within the battle. We can begin moving them slowly after that point, yes?â
âWe have been living our lives here without the aid of the Council for enough time now and even longer before I came here. I see no reason to involve them, either.â Elenaris looked down to Maevyn in his arms and her gaze seemed to linger there up until the sound of the door and Ebonheartâs heavy steps pulled her attention away. She gave him a quick nod before glancing back to her husband. âI will send Cindel to give word to the stewards at the Manor to see that everything is in order for the household to full move and take residence,â
Yet again, Elenaris flicked her gaze to Synida, somewhat surprised that she had not yet spoke up on the matter. But then, a thought came to her, another reminder that there was a war waging between factions. It had been one that lingered for years but now it was coming to a peak and she was at home. âWill you be returning to the front? ...Where ever that may be now?â She asked as she looked back once more to Cineas.
Cineas had gestured for Cindel to come to his aside after she had glanced up from her hushed conversation with the death knight at the door. When the woman had approached him, he handed the baby to her and indicated that she bring the child back to Elenaris and requested that one of the servants in the room bring him something to eat. His food intake had been limited to things that wouldnât spoil such as salted meats. He had taken a rather large sip of his wine and reached for the jug to refill it when his motherâs voice had grabbed his attention rather quickly. âThis home has been in our family for generations, Cineas, and it stirs my heart with disdain to see that you are so quick to surrender this home.â Her green eyes had trained on her son for an extended moment before her wrinkled fingers reached forward to grab the jeweled chalice that held her wine. âAt least unchain your brother to give him some sort of fighting chance with this war,â she added with a bit of a heavy sigh before finishing the remainder of the red liquid. Cineas seemed to be slightly betrayed by his motherâs words though he ignored her momentarily as his gaze returned to do the blonde woman who he called his wife. âIt appears that forces of the Horde are searching for additional allies throughout Azeroth. I have received word that Lady Windrunnerâs champion seeks aid from the Zandalari trolls and Etrigg has sought aid from the orcs on Draenor.â He rolled his eyes somewhat upon those that the Horde seemed to be wanting to ally with and then shook his head. âThe forces of the Duskhollow and Eventide are going to remain with us until I am requested for them otherwise.â
As Cindel was beckoned, Elenaris looked over to the couple that stood a distance away which caused the briefest of grins to form on her lips. Once Maevyn had been returned to her arms, she began rocking slightly in a soothing manner as she listened to not only Synida but to Cineas as well. She fought the urge to roll her eyes at the mention of the other Duskhollow âLordâ but her husbandâs quick follow up made it easier to distract her attention from the statement. âTrolls and Orcs⊠that is just what we need,â She said with obvious distaste though at this point, if the Horde was making these choices she knew it was Windrunner calling the shots and somehow that made it slightly and easier pill to swallow. Â
Once the food had been brought to Cineas, she nodded to Cindel so that she may take her leave and carefully reached to the table for a sip of her own wine before she seemed taken back by her husbandâs final words. âYou expect to be called once more?â
After Elenaris had dismissed Cindel, Cineas had waited a moment and nodded to Ebonheart to dismiss him as well. He seemed to distract himself with the wine in his cup until a plate was placed before him and then two more followed after it. The larger plate contained a few slices of some sort of roast and vegetables and the smaller plates had one of assorted fruits and a loaf of bread. He hadn't wasted a moment before greedily digging in and carefully swallowing the large mouthful and washing it down with a glass of wine. âWe need the Orcs and the Trolls. Who ever has a larger amount of bodies to throw at the other side will win this war. Both factions of beasts prove essential.â He murmured as he reached for one of the grapes and quickly popped it into his mouth.
He dismissed his mother with a few quick words and after the sound of her cane hitting the stone floor had disappeared, he rose from his seat and moved to kneel before the chair of his wife. His hand gently moved to up her cheek and he smiled in an almost eerie manner. âBetween the Eventide forces and my own, I expect us to be utilized again in this war. Which is why I'm placing the utmost importance on getting you and our daughter far from here.â
Elenaris had been distracted with the awaiting for Cineasâ response to even care to see Ebonheart leave. She glanced between him and Synida briefly but her gaze found his and locked on as he stood and made his place now kneeling before her. The feeling of his hand upon her cheek was welcomed, it was a feeling she had longed for each night when he was away. She reveled in the touch for a moment before deciding to respond and she knew he was not going to like what she had to say. âI will see that she and our household are well secure and protected, but once that is done and you are called back to aid in the moments where we strike the Alliance down, I am coming with you,â Her words were stern , as always, it was simply how the Lady was. A woman of her own, an independent and strong mind, but that small traditional and respectful portion of her still managed to weave through as her tone ered on the side of caution when standing up to Cineas.
He chuckled quietly at her response. Elenaris was back to being bold and oh how he had missed her though he had more than understood the toll that childbirth had taken on his wife. His hand dropped from her cheek after his thumb gave an affectionate graze to her bottom lip. âMy love,â he replied softly as he rose from his knees to take the seat next to her idly, his elbow resting on the table to prop his head up. âPerhaps there were once days of the brave and beautiful Elenaris Eventide leading her soldiers into battle. Inspiring morale at the chance for a random peasant to catch a strand of her golden locks for luck. But you have a child now, an obligation to her, to yourself and to this house. Battle is no place for you.â His jawline tightened as he finished speaking as his gaze narrowed at her slightly. They had always been a formidable pair but he, too, felt odd in a way standing up to her. âPlus, I anticipate that you will be quite entertained with my plans for the Eventide Estate.â
There was a moment of silence between his words and when she finally responded. Her features slowly drained of her enthusiasm regarding the current conversation. âYour plans for the Eventide Estate,â She repeated him before taking a slow breath and tilting her head slightly. âAm I to be expected to stay at home overseeing decor changes and projects, continue knitting for hours within the day and be a typical housewife?â Elenaris had always wanted a family but she never anticipated being put into this situation. Her own jaw clenched as she stared over at him expectedly. âYes I am a mother, but I am anything but that day to day Lady sitting back in a rocking chair while the rest of the world is off fighting a fight I should be a part of.â Her arms tightened around the young one that she cradled, glancing down at her as she continued to sleep soundly. She somewhat felt guilty for wanting to leave her but there was a burning inside her that yearned for more. âYour heir will be safe there with or without me but this is something I need to do before⊠retiring completely.â
âAnd what of our heir should the both of us perish side by side in a cliche story trope on the battlefield?â Cineas asked rather quickly as he reached for her glass of wine and quickly took a large gulp of it. âWho then will raise our child? My aging mother? Your disobedient sister?â He ranted slightly but he only seemed to calm himself when he had taken another sip of the wine. Battle had tired his senses and he was far from his normal self that exude control in almost every situation. He rose from the chair with her glass in hand and slowly paced over to the fireplace as his dull eyes gazed into the flames for a lingering moment. The heat felt warm against his skin but when the fire crackled more to life it gave a slight stinging to his eyes and nose. He stepped back slowly before tossing the remaining red liquid into the flames causing them to flare higher and brighter than before. âVery well,â Cineas replied finally as he turned around and folded his arms loosely over his chest. âIf we are summoned to war once more, I will permit you to come with me so long as Ebonheart is by your side.â
With the tense and rather rash gesture, Elenaris barely flinched but inside the outburst startled her slightly as she had become a rather calmed woman in her state of caring for their child while he was away. She watched from her stationary position and once he had finished his little rant, she rose to her feet, baby still cradled in her arms comfortably. âCindel will care for Maevyn until she is of age to assume her rightful place as head of our conjoined Houses, that was always the plan of action should we ever meet demise before the opportune time and that is why we named Cindel and gave her lands.â Her words were reassuring but flat as she stated them simply without expecting any push back and with that, she grinned to herself as he looked to her from across the room and then nodded to her elder mother-in-law. âI suppose I have some preparations to make, thenâŠâ She said with a bit of pride in herself that she had won out in her aspirations.
It had been quiet for them since their return to the small estate that Eliâyon kept up in return for him and Eleneyâaâs living arrangements there. Life had, for most purposes, returned to normal. There were very few hints to allude anyone to their noble births with the way in which they worked about the estate. It was true, Eleneyâa did have a small household that would assist her and Eliâyon had a farm hand or two to assist him. Theyâd occasionally allow a wayward traveler to spend the night within the abode before venturing out in the morning with a renewed sense of warmth and a full belly. The visions that Lord Duskhollow had implanted in his mind prevented him from obtaining a full nightâs sleep since their departure however. He hadnât mentioned any of it to Eleneyâa. It was in part because of his desire to not want her to worry, but another part of his pride swelled with keeping such things a secret. He had never wanted to ask for help of anyone.
The sun was beginning to fade beneath the line of the trees that lay near the edge of their property and Eliâyon took that as his cue to return to the homestead on the estate. Valion had flown over the treetops at a speed which had made Eliâyonâs loosely fitting shirt ruffle wildly. It was rare that the beasts experienced combat these days. Eliâyon had delayed his deployment to Argus temporarily and his menagerie had settled in somewhat nicely to daily life, or so he had liked to believed. The hunting for their food had satisfied what he could provide in way of bestial urges. The wolfhawk landed in front of the estate with a hasty gust of wind and Eliâyon quickly slipped from the fur, patting the beast on the head briskly before shooing him off. He was trained well enough to know the grounds and where he could and could not travel to. It had given the beast master little to worry of. âNeya?â Eliâyon called as he stepped through the doorway and ran a hand through his newly tangled hair as a result of the flying.
There was a soft sizzling sound that seemed to echo through the small estate, the delightful scent accompanying it would allude to what she was doing and where she could be found before her voice carried through the hall to respond to him. âIn the kitchen!â She was unlike her sister and many of her noble lineage in many ways, one of which was such a simple little thing but a difference made nonetheless. Eleneyâa stood before the large oven with her thick, long, dark brunette hair messily tied up in a bun and very simple dress covered by a dainty apron. As he would enter into the room, she would not pause in her preparations of their meal, however she would glance over her shoulder to offer him a smile. âWelcome home, I hope the day was profitable?â
Eliâyon made his way through the modest estate with his nose leading him moreso than her voice. The dried mud on his boots trekked through the manor somewhat that followed his path through the halls. He arrived to the kitchen with a rather humble greeting as his hands loosely found themselves about her waist and his lips quickly pressed themselves to the crook of her neck. âI was expecting you to be wearing...less,â he spoke in a rather teasing manner as he pulled away from her to seek out the icebox. The magical contraption did an interesting job at keeping things and fresh and cool. His hand reached for the pitcher of mead and he poured himself a hefty helping of mead. The liquid was more than halfway consumed within seconds of the pour and he found his slightly dehydrated body only temporarily restored. âThe fields are turning nicely.â He responded with a light shrug as he brought himself to sit at the small table a few feet from the oven. âAnd your day?â
She gave a slight pull away from him at the touch to her neck from his lips, but only because the sensation was a bit of a surprise and it brought slight goosebumps to form over her skin. There was a soft giggle that aided in showing that she wasnât doing it maliciously. âItâs merely a piece of fabric, Eliâyon⊠though, I suppose I could have done without it and simply worn the apron,â Her response came almost as a musing for herself, something to remember in the future. âHowever, we have had some others coming and going today, I did not wish to flaunt myself before them without you here.â She turned around now to face him, listening as he continued on about his day a bit. âIâm glad to hear it, youâve been putting many hours into it for it to fail. As for me? Quite uneventful -â Her words were clipped as she noticed the mud that had been tracked through over the floors.
With a determined pace, she moved to stand before him with hands upon her hips, a spatula sticking out from her grip. âEliâyon Starfury! I spent most of my day tidying this pigsty up and you cannot find it in yourself to remove your boots before coating my floors in dirt?â
Eliâyonâs attention had drifted partially to a freshly baked loaf of bread on the table and he quickly took it into his grasp as he tore a rather large piece away. He placed the loaf back onto the piece of cloth that it rested on and he took a bite of the slightly warm bread. âYou could have flaunted yourself before them,â Eliâyon admitted with a hushed chuckle as he swallowed the bread that remained within his mouth. âI am not opposed to showing others what is mine.â His voice was amused as his features mimicked the reaction of such as he smiled up at her as she approached him. Though when he had noticed her reasoning for doing such, he paused abruptly. His gaze dropped as he brought the tankard of mead to his lips once more in an effort to avoid the subject matter. âYou do have a lady or two you can request to clean the floorss, Neya.â He responded somewhat swiftly. âItâs just simply some dirt.â
Her lips pursed and brows furrowed, an expression that often would oddly resemble her sister. âYes, I am quite aware that it can be cleaned again by another, but the fact that I already spent my time doing it originally!â She was truthfully upset but it was not a serious discussion as her lips tugged into a grin and she founds herself chuckling. The spatula was placed to the table and her hands reached to undo the simple ties at her shoulders that would hold her dress in place, causing the fabric to fall from her form and simply remaining the apron. âBut you do no not mind showing me off, hm? As yours, you say?â She asked, turning the conversation once more to turn the conversation to what it had been prior.
He indulged himself with another sip of the cool liquid as his pale eyes watched her intently. The falling of the fabric from her frame had caused his attention to watch its descent in an entertained manner as his eyes drank in what was visible of her frame on their way back up to find her face. âI do trust you to handle your own,â he replied to her as he placed the nearly empty tankard onto the wooden table. âShould some man find it within his being to do more than look, but I trust that those who come into this household would not.â His words were confident and his features held a similar look as he smiled up at her in a cheesy manner. âNot many so eager to find themselves in combat with one who has devoted their life to such things.â
âOf course, Eli, my loyalty is all yours,â Two fingers came to rest under his chin as she lowered herself down to place a soft kiss to his lips. âHowever⊠now that I have your attention, youâve enjoyed some food and more to come, I believe it might be time for us to have a certain conversation that has been put off since our return. Before we become a bit⊠distractedâŠâ Her gaze lowered to regard her mostly naked form as she stood straight once more and anxiously awaited his response.
Her initial words had caused him to smile somewhat but her continued voicing had caused that smile to disappear just as quickly as it had come. âYou mean the conversation that your sister and her dog encouraged us to have?â He asked as his body slinked back into the chair somewhat. His hand moved upwards to indulge himself into his nervous tick as his fingers twisted the hair of his beard around them. His gaze was upwards and on her, waiting her confirmation despite knowing the answer to his question.
Eleneyâa offered him a knowing look, her brows raised ever so slightly as she met his gaze. âYes⊠that one,â She began before heading back to the oven. Her entire backside was now exposed as she had removed her dress, which she realized too late might have been a bit of a distraction and probably should have waited until the conversation had been completed. The food was removed from inside the oven and whatever pots or pans were on the stovetop were set aside. As she spoke, she went about preparing their plates. âYou know, he is to be my brother-in-law and while he may seem a bit stuck on his high horse, I do not presume him to be such a bad man⊠and save for a few quips at you during our dinner, I could think of only one reason why you would be so against himâŠâ Her words were a bit somber in nature, hinting at his remaining feelings for Elenaris but not speaking them loudly.
Her words had caused him to grumble beneath his breath in a quick and dismissive fashion as he pushed himself from the seat. Her current placement was more than enticing and more than inviting for him though he resisted his urges temporarily to grab the pitcher of mead and return to his seat with a loud thud sound of his body settling into the chair once more. âI do not still love your sister,â Eliâyon quipped loudly and in a forceful manner as he poured himself another tankard and ripped another serving of bread from the loaf. âHow can you not sense that there is darkness within that man? Call upon your studies of the Light and feel something. He will bring nothing but despair and I believe you think that too.â
She stopped in her movements as he spoke, taking a moment for a steady breath and then she resumed her actions to pick up the plates and turn to place them upon the table. It was a simple meal, some meats and veggies with potatoes, but enough for them. âDo I sense a darkness? Yes, of course I do...but that darkness is also inside my sister as well and I think that perhaps the two of them together may do good things for her. At least keep her in line, keep her sane to some degree so that she does not fall further into the shadows. Who knows, I may be thinking too highly of Elenaris and her newly engaged but I know at least one thing is that while you may be disagreeing in their ways, sheâs carrying my little nephew and if he brings nothing good but that one thing, I am grateful for that.â She went about picking at the food as she spoke, lifting her gaze to him ever so often to ensure he was listening. âAnd the way you acted at the dinner spoke tones of a different song⊠if your feelings were as deep as I imagine they were, it is okay for them to not completely to disappear.â
Eliâyon drew in a shaky breath and released it as Eleneyâa brought him the plate of food and placed it down before him before moving to sit across from him at the tiny, wooden table. The food smelled delicious, as did it normally when she prepared it and his hand grasped the metal fork quickly to poke around at the contents of the plate. His opposite hand once more gripped the tankard and he took a healthy sip before placing the wooden mug onto the table. âNeya,â Eliâyon breathed as he placed the fork down so that a hand could move to hold the bridge of his nose. âYou speak of my love for your sister but by the Light, Iâve no idea what you speak of. I had a military alliance with your sister and nothing more for as far as I can remember,â he admitted to her, his hand dropping away to reveal his pale hues to her and prove his honesty on the matter.
She had taken a few mere bites of the food but as he spoke, she completely stopped in all movement. âYou..what?â She stuttered out, her lips falling apart slightly as she continued to try to comprehend what he was saying. âIâm sorry, what do you mean you do not remember anything more than that? Did you have an accident and did not tell me of it?â She stood and rounded the table to run her fingers through his hair in a manner of examining. âDid you bump your head?â
He seemed to become rather irritated when she rose from her chair and began to run her fingers through his hair in search of a possible wound. She wouldnât find one however as he as there was no wound to be discovered, just slightly knotted hair from the flying he had done on his way home this evening. âThis is not a joking matter,â he replied softly as he glanced upwards at the woman. His face appeared to be solemn and his eyes hinted at only being slightly panicked on the matter. His voice cleared, a possible defense mechanism to stop himself from becoming anymore emotional than he already was. âI canât remember. Months of time? Gone as if it were nothing and at night? Iâm plagued with these awful nightmares that not even the apothecaries can cure with their magics and their herbs.â
âI was not jokingâŠâ She said softly as her hands dropped from his hair and she began to look him over with just as much concern as she slowly bent at her knees to lower down before him. She sat on her calves as she gazed up to him. âEliâyon, what has happened to you?â
He released a heavy sigh at her response as his line of sight followed her movements. Where she had gone, he had seemed to follow without actually moving. His hands dropped to lay in his lap and his eyes finally moved to shift to staring at his callused hands. He felt violated and unsure of himself. How could he actually know what was the truth and what wasn't when things were stripped so quickly and easily from him. âI've no idea,â he finally breathed. âAll I know is that the man whom your sister calls her husband is responsible and I cannot even find it in myself to find a desire to fight him on it.â
The dainty and sweet features of Eleneyâaâs face seemed to distort into more of angst fierceness. She quickly reached up to where his hands were in his lap and took hold of them with a stern grip. âI will figure this out, Eliâyon⊠surely Elenaris is unaware of what has transpired,â there was a steady inhale of a somewhat shaky breath. âEli, I know you feel somewhat lost and that youâre unsure of what is and what isnât real but⊠this is real,â her hands squeezed his even tighter,â I am real, okay? We will figure out what has done to you...if that is what you desire.â
The moment that her hands took his own, he managed to jump slightly. The feeling was comforting from heras Eleneyâa had grown to be his primary source of support whether she had truly known that or not. âSheâs not a fool,â he breathed quietly. âThat much I am aware of.â The memories that had been left of Elenaris were just things that most citizens would know of her. Her status within the community, her wealth, her power and her ability to make an entire room bend to her will. The personal connection with her was gone, perhaps never meant to be returned. âI want someone to make him pay for what he has done to me. I want to be able to feel and know why I feel those things. Not to just feel things out of nowhere with no remembrance.â
âIf you want your memories back, we will get them back, whether Elenaris knows or not. Whether she helps or notâŠâ Eleneyâa reassured him, her grip onto his hands was unwavering as she continued to speak, that was until she released with a single hand to reach up to cup his cheek softly. âForget the prior conversation, we need not to kneel before their desires any longer, especially with this. We will live our lives the way we wish for as long as we wish. I was willing to have some sort of agreement or perhaps some sort of compromise but not now, they are not our rulers.â
He seemed slightly relieved at her change in decision but her unwavering support. Eliâyon knew the troubles of families with morals and mindsets that differed. His own family was a product of that. Matâaes was the only Starfury that seemed to hold his fatherâs favor without interruption. Eliâyon and Aris were very rarely within that spotlight and he had almost preferred it. His marriage to Elenaris or even Eleneyâa would have been giving his parents absolutely everything they wanted and regardless of his love for either sister, he was not so willing to indulge their wishes. âIf we do not agree to their wishes, her dog has already made it clear that he will separate us,â Eliâyon finally spoke up as his chin leveled and his eyes bore into her own. âWeâve no choice than to submit or face unhappiness.â
She offered a heavy sigh as her hand fell from his cheek and both rested to his knees to aid her in standing. âWell, one way or another, a choice must be made. Unless you forsee looking for a different mate, I see little reason to fight the idea of us marrying, getting it out of the way and would no longer have to be concerned about any of it.â She pursed her lips as she gazed down to him now that she stood over him. âHowever, if it is truly something you do not wish, we will leave Quelâthalas and be rid of their heavy hands in another land.â
Eliâyon inhaled sharply as she pushed herself to stand once more and he followed suit to stand as well. The blonde man towered over her as his gaze softened and his neck craned so that heâd be able to gaze upon her. âLet us elope then,â he suggested as one of his brows rose momentarily. âLet us have a quiet ceremony in the woods with one witness and an officiant. Let us bring nothing special but ourselves and wear nothing fancy.â He explained to her, possibly in hopes that it was something she was agreeable to. If he were to marry it would be her in something quiet and private. âWe need not tell Elenaris, her dog, or my father. It is none of their business.â
It was no playful surprise that Eleneyâa offered in way of response to his suggestion. She took quite a long moment to respond and when she did her words were a bit soft. âEliâyon⊠I donât want you forced into anything simply because of the concern that they will attempt to control us further.â Her chin had lifted so that she could keep her gaze on him but her eyes flicked over his features briskly as her mind whirled with thoughts. âBut if it is what you wish, I would be happy to join you.â She stated with somewhat of a blossoming pride. â And together we will bring consequences for what has been done to you.â
