Heyooo I finally feel confident in putting this in writing on my semi-anonymous blog now that I have it in black on white. So for the last year + a few months, I've been working at a local bakery mostly making sandwiches. I got the job via the municipality unemployment team, who have this frankly fantastic initative where they pair long term unemployed people directly with open job positions in local companies. After a couple of months training and 8 months of government subsidised pay, I was given a 5 month summer job contract, and finally today I signed a new contract to make the position permanent! I get to keep my full time job! In this economy! My country is currently going through unprecedented unemployment numbers (since we started tracking that kind of thing, mind you), and I spent the majority of the past 5+ years unemployed, so I feel very fortunate.
As far as jobs go, it's not very difficult, it's very close to my house, and the coworkers are mostly great. My mornings are early but hey, you win some you lose some. I get to work with my hands making actual tangible things! I get free bread and pastries, lunch/breakfast is free and I make 12 bucks an hour which is IMO decent for a single person living in a one room apartment in my area. I'm not in poverty for once in my life, wild!
