134 - Mac
Mac, just saying his name brings a big smile to my face. He was a very sweet guy, but this Grey Call had a lot of sinus problems and his cheeks would get all puffy and he would have some labored breathing. Poor guy! I remember several times in the wet winter or springs having to give him that awful medicine stuff... It smelled absolutely dreadful, but at least it was liquid and not a pill. Trust me, pilling a duck is not an easy task!
Mac handled it well, although of course he did not like it. Even though it was a bit of an inconvenience to take care of him, it was nice to spend extra time getting to know him more. I know that sounds crazy! But I had so many ducks, that it was quiet moments like that, just taking care of my duckies, that I grew to love each one of them more and more.Β
I also remember my Dad being very helpful. It is challenging to medicate a duck all by yourself, so I was quiet thankful for my Dad's help in holding Mac so I could use both my hands to medicate him. As clear as day, I can still see them sitting outside on the step...Β
