This seems familiar...
Completely forgot this was in my drafts but; Anyone else think the illustrations in the Nine Realms' dragon book look way too much like grayscale Tangled the Series art rather than anything like Hiccup's actual art style?
Had a bonkers dream last night that in Dragons the nine realms the cast somehow went back in time and met hiccup only for him to be a villain because without toothless he turned into a Drago bloodfist-ish person and it sounds so horrible it might become true.
not sure how i’m feeling about the new httyd series.
i want to have hope for it, but that might just be my desperation to fill the void that the movie franchise ending left.
honestly, i think the concept is interesting! with dragons being gone for well over a millennium, they’d be nothing but myths/legends. i’m assuming they would have been written off as just stories in scriptures and artifacts.
i think it could be interesting to see humanity rediscovering dragons and relearning all the information that was discovered by hiccup 1300 years before. maybe hiccup’s old research and things would have been found at one point?
but the animation does look weird and it feels very cash-grabby.
it’s not that unlikely that the main character we see is a descendant of hiccup/astrid which...i almost hope not but it wouldn’t surprise me, as the nightlight is 100% a descendant of toothless and the light fury.
i have mixed feelings about the whole thing but i do think the premise is interesting and i want to have hope that it’ll be at least okay. bonus points for jeremy shada voicing the mc.
but also if it’s 1300 years later that means hiccup has been dead for hundreds of years and i can’t cope with that, so i refuse to acknowledge it. he’s still alive because i said so.

consider: TNR "sequel" to Forbidden Friendship from the first httyd movie, and it's called Forgotten Friendship
Ok so I guess this is a sequel to that time I connected the mist twister to real life myth. because I guess I am trying to make The Nine Realms make sense in... some capacity.
But now I am onto the strangeness of the 'Zombie' Featherhides.
These things. Somehow, these molting critters... have horns despite.... being supposed to have feathers. and the titanwing has horns. for some reason.
...even when it's not molting? the other featherhides well, HAVE FEATHERS when they're not molting.
I have an explanation, well two actually, one to explain, just look at the anatomy of a feather.
The reason the unmolted titanwing has horns is because.... titanwings lose the vanes of their feathers on their heads, which leaves just the sharp quills. the molting featherhides look like they have horns because they have pinfeathers.
pinfeathers are waxy coatings that cover newly formed feathers. So this and the skin of the molting featherhides being something akin to shed snake skin is probably why Feathers' scream was able to get them back to normal.
