Hi wait hi hold on it just hit me that. Okay there's this line, almost a throwaway line, in your Stardust fic that hit me So hard when I first read it and has really stuck with me since and I realized hey wait I can Tell You about that fic authors Love that so anyway here's why stardust au Tango is so very sad to me in this essay I will
"as if he was just a little bomb that had broken their favorite toy."
Ah yes that whole scene was delightful to write.
However, @dsfalkweon, when Tango compares himself to a "bomb" in that sentence, he does not actually mean to compare himself to an explosive! He's talking about the Ignis Petra/Magma Cube term for a child!
You see when volcanoes erupt they produce many things: Clouds of ash/toxic gases, molten rock (magma when still underground, lava when it emerges), and-
The above image is an example of a chunk of half melted rock debris (this particular example was ejected from the Kīlauea Volcano, Hawaii in 1983) which is called a volcanic or lava bomb!
I figured that since Magma Cubes are very volcano coded, calling their children after half melted debris that gets flung out of the earth during an eruption was very fitting!
So what he's doing in that sentence is, as you inferred, comparing himself crying over a shattered teapot to a child who is crying over a broken toy.
No Tango's never been in that position before and absolutely doesn't have personal experience with that feeling, whatever do you mean? :)
