DSDC Earns Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation from CQL
After working hard for almost a year, Developmental Services of Dickson County (DSDC) was awarded Person Centered Excellence Accreditation from the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) on September 16, 2016. DSDC provides Employment and Day Services, Residential, Nursing, Respite, and Family Support Services to more than 300 adults and children in a variety of home and community-based service settings.
Here’s what Donald Redden, Executive Director, and Richard Streck, Program Manager, of DSDC said about the Accreditation process. “The success of our Accreditation with the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) truly was a team effort. Without the incredible and knowledgeable assistance of Buffalo River Services, Inc. and the regional office’s Accreditation team, our success would have taken much longer and been much more difficult. These two teams were exceptional with maintaining constant communication and providing faultless resources. By providing these assets, they guided DSDC’s Accreditation team to success. “
During the Accreditation process, 18 employees and two people supported were certified to complete POM interviews. “We have begun assimilating CQL knowledge and lessons into our initial and annual training schedule. Additionally, we have begun amending our current policies, practices and guidelines. Our next endeavor is the development and implementation of a successful system to complete, track and follow up on recommendations from POM interviews…The most rewarding aspect of our Accreditation is viewing the people we support actively advocating for themselves and others. CQL Accreditation is undoubtedly a great and most rewarding endeavor.“
