pairing: fem!reader x william eklund (ft. mentions of oskar eklund, macklin, smitty, etc.)
genre: fluff
word count: >1k
warning(s): mentions of birth, (hints of) blood, pain, cursing, & lowkey terrified william
note(s): someone asked how anyaâs birth went, so iâm going to link this to their ask! i know NOTHING about labor so please excuse any inconsistencies or inaccuracies that you see. i tried to do my best in describing birth as someone who has never given birth before (lol), thank you google
It started early morning.
At first, it seemed to be just crampsâor Braxton hicks from your previous experiences. Nothing major to note.
But around six a.m., at time where you were usually sound asleep, it had gotten worse.
Instead of the pain being solely localized to your abdomen and upper lower half, it spread to your back and thighs, making it hard for you to sit or stand still for a prolonged period of time.
William had awoken to your pained mumbles and groans, as well as from your continued pacing.
âĂlskling? (Darling?)â William asked, sleep still heavy on his face. âWhatâs wrong? Is it go time?â
His panicked voice and frantic movements caused you to stop for a moment and gather yourself, inhaling deeply before exhaling. With how long you were experiencing this pain, you didnât want to explode on your husband from how easily annoyed you got in this state.
You only hummed in confirmation, eyebrows furrowed in pain. âI think so. Water hasnât broke yet but it feels the same from last time.â
William nodded in acknowledgment, too afraid to speak in fear of repeating the same lash out you experienced during the birth of your first son. He does not want to repeat the same mistake again.
âIâd like to stay home a bit more before we go anywhere, if needed,â you murmured, trying to go through your birth plan in your head.
Ideally, youâd like to give birth in your own home, but not everything goes to plan obviously. So, in the case that everything when awry, you would head to the hospital and give birth.
âWant me to call Rae?â William asked, gently pulling your hair into a braid as you sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing your back.
Rae was a family member of yours who just happened to be a midwife. She had moved down to San Jose way before William was drafted to the Sharks. Sheâs practically the only family member you had in the states. She offered to be your midwife for your second pregnancy, and you immediately took her up on her offer.
You groaned out a âyesâ in response, eye softly closing as you focused on the multiple breathing techniques you and William read about.
âIâll call Macklin and Will to see if they can watch over Oskar too,â William spoke, tying off your braid and kissing the top of your head before reaching for his phone.
You tuned out the entire conversation he was having on the phone, standing up to find the pink yoga ball Felicia gifted you during your baby shower.
Hopefully, itâs not a long labor, you thought to yourself as you slowly made your way.
10:30am
âHow long have your contractions been between each one?â
âHmm, maybe a couple minutes?â
Rae nodded, continuing to put counter pressure on your back as you rocked back and forth on the yoga ball.
âYou were only a couple inches dilated when I last checked. Are you still comfortable giving birth here?â She asked, eyeing your husband as he impatiently sat in the corner chewing on his nails.
You hummed in answer, dominant hand rubbing your hardening abdomen.
âIâll go fill up the tub,â William offered, jumping up from his spot. He needed to do something. He hated seeing you in so much pain with no way to stop it.
Rae stifled a laugh, shaking her head at Williamâs eagerness. Shooing him to do so as she continued to try to relieve the pressure in your back.
The Swedish man hurried to your shared bathroom, breaking open the inflatable tub he bought after finalizing your birth plan. (Yes, it was teal as well.)
âAt least heâs making himself useful,â she murmured, starting to now gently massage your lower back.
âHeâs trying,â you replied, a small smile gracing your lips at the topic of your husband. âThatâs all I can ask for.â
Rae smiled at your comment, happy that you had a partner like William. She has seen far too many instances where oneâs partner barely did anything and just complained the whole time. She was glad that you didnât have to experience that.
12:00pm
The warm water had turned lukewarm, your lower half submerged as your upper half gripped the soft material of the inflatable tub pool.
Your water broke shortly after William had finished setting up the tub, which gave you some relief in the fact that your baby was nearly here.
âYouâre doing really great, (Y/N),â Rae said, half of her body turned towards you as she fiddled with laying out some equipment she may or may not need. âJust keep breathing and push whenever you feel like you need to.â
You nodded at her words, hands tightly gripping not only the tubs material but your husbandâs hands as well as another contraction washed over you.
âRemind me to never let you touch me ever again,â you groaned out, following Raeâs orders and pushing as you felt the need to.
William nodded in agreement, gently pushing away the fly aways in your face. âOf course, my love.â
He was in the water with you, his non occupied hand rubbing the entire expanse of your back. Once he had heard that your water had broken, he immediately shed all clothing except his shorts and guided you into the warm water he had prepared. The both of you had agreed that William should be the one in the water with you, something that, albeit not seeming like it in the moment, brought you great comfort knowing that your husband was right by your side.
You whispered a quiet fuck as the contraction ebbed away, muscles beginning to feel tired and sore already.
âWilliam, please check to see if you can see the head at all,â Rae asked, wetting a hand towel with cool water and placing it on your neck.
The poor man paled slightly at the command, nerves crawling in his stomach.
Now, William wasnât a man who got queasy easily. But this, this is a situation he would, and has, gotten queasy in.
During your birth of Oskar, he had taken a peek to see if he was out yet and was met with the sight of his sonâs head crowning and way too much blood surrounding your lower half.
Itâs not that birth makes him queasy or unsettled, itâs the fact that all of that blood had came from youâhis wife who heâs been in love with since he could understand and feel the word. He hates seeing you suffer in any and all forms.
But William gulped down his nerves and nodded, gently removing himself from your side to check if you were crowning. And the sight he saw nearly had him choke up.
âI see it! I see the head,â he exclaimed, eyes glancing to Rae, unsure of what to do.
Your husbandâs words seemed to calm you a bit, the laboring process nearly done and over with.
Rae smiled, grabbing both of your hands as you readied yourself to bear down and push a few more times.
âOnly a few more pushes and then theyâre out. Are you ready?â
You weakly nodded.
A few moments passed and soon enough, a small cry erupted from behind you.
A sigh released from your lips and all tension left your body, physically deflating as you leaned against the soft material of the pool.
âItâs a girl!â William cried, hands gently cradling the newborn.
You softly turned your body towards your husband and new baby daughter, tears already streaming down your reddened cheeks.
William held her out to you, placing her on your chest as you settled.
âSheâs gorgeous,â you whispered, lips pressed against the full head of hair your newborn carried.
âYeah,â William whispered, eyes trained on you as he pushed back your hair from your sweat stricken forehead. âShe is.â
Iâve been thinking about eky after his injury, especially after it was announced he canât play in worlds anymore, and Oskar and mamma just trying to cheer him up!
(apologies for this being so late đ forgot i had this sitting in my requests. i hope you enjoy đ im not too sure if christian & victor attended that specific game so pls ignore their mentions if they didnât. i also canât exactly remember if he had surgery when he first got his injury or if it happened a little after to check it out)

You and Oskar had been in the stands when it happened.
The two of you werenât up against the glass like usual so neither of you were able to see what actually happened. Only that William had gotten injured and was quickly escorted off the ice with half of the medical team behind him.
When it was announced that he had taken a skate to the wrist, your heart dropped to your ass and through the floor. You knew how dangerous an injury to the wrist could be.
Oskar hadnât been made aware of the severity of the injury and only knew that his Pappa needed to go to the hospital and get checked by the doctors.
âPappaâs okay, right Mamma?â Oskar mumbled, face buried in the crook of your neck as the two of you sat in the family waiting room. William had already been admitted into surgery to check if it hit any nerves and stitch him up.
It had been too quiet for multiple minutes until your son spoke up, Christian and Victor looking towards the little boy.
âYeah. Of course, Ossie Bear,â you replied, pushing back some of his curls as he pulled his face away from your neck.
Some of the media personnel had called you shortly after the game to inform you that they had taken William to the hospital and that there was no blood on the ice, so he was most likely going to be alright.
âThey just need to make sure everything works,â Victor added on.
Oskar only hummed at his uncles response as he placed his head on your shoulder, his soft hair tickling your neck.
More minutes passed until a doctor walks into the waiting room calling out Eklund.
You scrambled up from your seat a little too fast, your son tightening his grip on your neck as you stood up.
The doctor informed all of you that everything looked good and William was lucky the skate blade didnât hit anything major. And that he most likely wonât be able to continue playing in worlds.
âHeâs in the last room at the end of the hall to the left,â she added, smiling softly at the handful of you before excusing herself.
The entire room let out a breath of relief, beginning to make their way towards the room they were holding William in.
âHey,â Christian whispered out into the dimly lit room, the sight of his son on the hospital bed groggy from the pain meds and anesthesia. âHow âya feeling, kid?â
William goofily smiles at the lot of you as you all enter, mumbling something incoherent before gently reaching out for Oskar and you.
âHi, Pappa,â Oskar whispered, copying his grandfathers prior actions in being soft spoken. âMamma and I got you something to not make you sad anymore.â
Albeit the drugs running its course through his system, William managed to sit up a little as he brought Oskar closer to his side, both parties weary of his injured hand. His eyes lit up at his sonâs comment though, smile getting even wider, displaying his teeth.
âYeah? Whatâd you get me, mitt hjärta?â He asked, voice slightly raspy.
Oskar looked towards you and the bag on your shoulder, reaching out for the gift hazardously stuffed into your purse.
âOssie picked it out,â you spoke. âThought it would make you feel better about everything.â
A white, fluffy duck was presented to the hockey player. Within the stuffed animals arms was a small duckling.
âOh, bear,â William proclaimed, taking the gift in his uninjured hand and settling it in his lap. Eyes wide in appreciation and awe.
âItâs me and you, Pappa!â Oskar exclaimed, disregarding the soft noise level that had been established earlier. âIâm the little one and youâre the big one!â
âHe told me it reminded him of the two of you,â you added, gently patting down your sonâs curls.
The entire room silently awed and cooed as William and his son experienced a heart felt moment.
âThank you, Ossie,â William croaked out, truly thankful for his sonâs thoughtfulness. âBest gift Iâve ever received.â
Oskarâs eyes lit up at that, giggle a little as he gently laid himself against his Fathers chest and hugged him.
William held his son and the stuffed duck against his chest with his non injured hand, softly kissing Oskarâs head.
And as he held Oskar and the rest of his family mumbled to him and amongst themselves, William turned his eyes towards you, displaying the disappointment and sadness he truly felt but was hesitant to express in front of others.
You gave your husband a reassuring look that told him everything was going to be okay, both of your hands delicately grasping one of his biceps as you leaned over and placed a fleeting kiss onto Williamâs forehead.
You knew it might be a frustrating healing journey for William. But you also knew that his determination and stubbornness was stronger. And as long as he had you, Oskar, and the rest of his family, you knew heâd be alright.

You threw up. Again.
It was the third time this morning, the bathroom floor now becoming practically a second home to you as you barely left the room all morning.
âWhatâs wrong, Mamma?â Oskar asked, his tiny hand grasping your hair in a ponytail as you still leaned over the toilet seat while the other rubbed your back comfortingly.
You only groaned in response, reaching out to flush the toilet.
âĂlskling? (Darling?)â William asks, peaking his head into the bathroom, sleep still heavy on his eyes as he rubbed them. âWhatâs wrong? You still throwing up?â
âYes, Pappa,â Oskar answered for you. âI try to help. Rub her back like you, Pappa.â
William gently smiled down at his son as he entered the bathroom, sitting down on the floor with the two of you.
âIs that right, Ossie? Well, I know another way you can help,â William offered, patting down the wild and unruly curls of the four-year-old. âWhy donât you go downstairs and get the living room ready for a movie day? It might help Mamma feel better.â
At the suggestion of movie day and helping his Mother feel better, Oskar enthusiastically nodded and clumsily saluted before rushing out of the bathroom and down the stairs.
âHow long youâve been sick?â William asks, turning back towards you and pushing back the stray hair that fell in front of your face.
âSince I woke. Canât keep anything down,â you replied, leaning into the comfortable warmth of your husband. âDonât have a fever and I tested for COVID. Negative.â
William hummed in acknowledgment, wrapping his arms around you and resting his lips on the crown of your forehead.
A few moments passed before you slowly sat up, not from the need to puke but from a moment of realization.
âWhat day is it?â You asked, a slight distant look in your eyes.
William furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, hand rubbing your back. âSaturday, why?â
A sinking feeling settled in your stomach as the main possible reason youâre currently sick pops into your head. Youâre late. Very late.
âIâm late,â you replied, mentally tallying the days since your last period.
It had been a near forty days since you last had your period back in May. With the draft and traveling back to Sweden and back to California made all the days blur together and you lose track of your period and birth control.
âYouâre late? For what?â William asked, concern lacing his voice.
âMy period,â you whispered.
The man before you froze, his hand stilling in its movements. It took him a while to process what you meant as his eyes widened.
âYou want to test? Do we even have tests? Want me to go get some?â He rambled, slight panic in his voice as he sat up straighter and pulled you closer in response. âI can get some right now if you donât know or donât want to look.â
You smiled gently at his offer, shaking your head as you placed a hand on his knee. âWe have some in the cabinet underneath the sink, Will.â
He merely nodded before bolting up and practically diving towards the cabinet, swinging open the doors and rummaging through the contents. He grabbed the first handful of tests he saw and brought them out.
âI can definitely get more if this isnât enough,â he noted, the multiple pregnancy tests scattering onto the sink counter.
âIt should be fine,â you answered, standing up and settling yourself by your husbands side. âOnly need a couple.â
William only hummed, eyes never leaving the side of your face as you looked at the various of tests you had collected over the years.
âWant me to leave you to your business? Keep Bear occupied for a bit,â the Swedish man asked, fingers gently brushing themselves through your hair.
You nodded, knowing that it would be best for your son and husband to be occupied for a bit. William is known to get antsy during your pregnancy scare tests. It would be better to have him busy himself with a task during the wait.
âMâkay, älskade. Just text me when times up,â William commented, kissing your cheek a handful of times before exiting the bathroom, throwing one last look of comfort over his shoulder.
âââ
Positive. Positive. Positive. Positive.
Theyâre all positive.
Holy shit, you think. Every test you took thatâs sitting in front of you are telling you that youâre pregnant.
Now, by having Oskar so young, neither you or William wanted kids so soon after him. But it had been a complete four years since you had your son. Neither of you had the talk about other kids yet, wanting to still soak up the time with just Oskar.
Just before you reached for your phone to notify William, a soft knock sounded at the bathroom door.
âKäraste?â William pokes his head into the bathroom. âAll done?â
You hum in agreement, stepping to the side a bit as he entered and softly shut the door.
William short circuit at all the tests laid out, all positive. He slowly blinked once. Twice. Thrice before looking at you with slight tears in his eyes.
âReally?â He softly asks, his voice cracking from the emotion laced within it. âYouâre â Weâre pregnant?â
You smiled and nodded, same tears in your eyes as you wrapped your arms around his neck, bringing him into your front.
William wrapped both his arms around your back and buried his face in your neck. He brought you so close to him that he lifted you off the ground a few inches.
âI hope itâs a girl this time,â he whispered, his lips tickling the skin of your neck.
And thatâs when you knew that William wasnât bothered at all by the news. And that heâd be the best Father once again, doing everything in his power to make it all work out like it did the first time around.

loving this Eklund family series! Would love to hear about Oskar going to a game!
oskar, papaâs #1 fan!
series masterlist
pairing(s): mom!reader x son!oc x dad!william eklund
genre: fluff
warning(s): usual hockey stuff (fights, penalties, etc.). also, oskar is well spoken for a 3 ½ year old in this blurb, so letâs just ignore that & say heâs just advanced in his speech abilities
note(s): itâs like youâve read my mind. i was planning on doing something like this & now, here it is! this is also a really long blurb. technically it can count as an imagine, but i didnât want to transfer everything onto a google doc & then onto here to get a word count lol. endingâs a little shit, but hope you enjoy it!
The early morning skate had been a success for the Eklund boys.
William had managed to convince Ryan Warsofsky, his head coach, to allow Oskar to tag along for the teams morning skate.
The whole team had been excited to have the boy skated up on the ice. Albeit him being so young and tiny, he had pretty good balance on the ice, only falling or tripping over his feet a handful of times.
Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith had taken it upon themselves to entertain the young Eklund boy during practice. They played tag with him during water breaks, pretending to trip over their feet so the three-and-a-half year old could tag them. They passed pucks between his legs and practiced their stick handling skills, making the little boy giggle as he chased the rubber pucks. Macklin even held Oskar in his arms at one point, the child sideways as the teenager skated, the two making casual conversation.
Oskar had a blast to say the least.
When the two had arrived home an hour after you woke up, the child began talking about how much fun he had and how he couldnât wait to do it again (mostly gushing about the two teenagers who played with him the entire practice). He promptly passed out on the couch after he ate his second breakfast of the day. William had joined his son not too long afterwards, both Eklund boys asleep on opposite ends of the furniture.
William had quietly left the house after he woke from his nap a couple of hours before he needed to be at the rink again. He placed a gentle kiss on the crown of Oskarâs head before softly kissing your lips, a silent goodbye to the both of you so as to not wake up the sleeping boy.
Getting Oskar ready wasnât as much as a hassle as it usually is. He didnât fuss or pout as you got him dressed and ready, proudly wearing his custom jersey.
âReady to see Papa play?â You asked, holding his much smaller hand in yours as you both walked into the bustling arena, Felicia Wennberg trailing behind the two of you with her own children.
âYeah!â Oskar exclaimed, excitement clear and buzzing.
He always loves seeing his Dad play and make plays out on the ice. He thought it was enchanting to watch him play. Oskar always complimented how he liked the way his Father skated out on the ice, as if he was floating. Everything about his Father, even his job, seemed surreal and amazing. He truly looked up to him in more ways than one.
âYou think heâll score tonight?â You questioned, picking him up to make it easier to maneuver your way to your designated seats.
âOf course! Papaâs a good scorer, Mama,â Oskar replied, head on your shoulder as he watched other fans of the Sharks and Bruins alike walk around. âOr heâll get a passâ.
Oskarâs hockey terminology isnât up to par with William or yours, so you know that heâs referring to an assist when he mumbles pass.
The two of you, including Felicia and her two kids, finally made it to your saved and designated seats by the other wives and girlfriends. It wasnât too close to the glass but not far off where William wouldnât be able to spot you both from the ice.
âHope the boys break the Bruins win streak,â Felicia hopefully muttered to you once you all sat down, the two of you shoulder to shoulder while Oskar sat on the left of you and her children sat on the right of her.
You nodded in agreement. âI hope so too. Itâd be good to get another win on the boardâ.
Conversation between the two of you flowed easily, both of your children also following into chatting as all five of you wait for warmups to start.
Warmups were Oskars favorite part of hockey games. He liked seeing all the things each individual player did before a game, especially whatever routine his Father decided to do that night.
âMama?â Oskar asked, standing up in his seat as he leaned over to get your attention. âCan we go down to see Papa?â
âOf course! We always do, Ossie bearâ you replied, swooping him in your arms as you kissed his pink cheeks.
By the time the five of you made it down to the glass, players had begun to skate out, flying by fans banging on the barrier separating them from the players.
Oskar had immediately began to bang on the glass with his palms, yelling for his Father, trying to catch his attention.
Macklin Celebrini had been the one to beeline towards the Eklund boy. A big smile spread on the tees lips, waving to Oskar as he held a puck in his hands, tossing it up over the glass for Oskar to catch.
âHey, buddy!â Macklin exclaimed, tapping the glass with his gloved finger.
Oskar shrieked in excitement, holding the puck close to his chest as he slapped the glass. âMack! Mack!â
Spotting his teammate animatedly talking to his son and wife, William grinned and made his way to the center player.
William gently collided with Macklin, wrapping his arms around the front of the teen, the both of them bouncing off the glass and spinning slightly.
âPapa!â Oskar shouted, hand slapping on the glass even harder. âLook! I got a puck!â
The young blond boy held up the puck that Mack tossed the child, grin so wide all of his teeth showed.
William smiled back at his son, rustling Macklinâs hair before the teen skated off to continue his warmup routine.
âI see that, bud! That was nice of him,â he commented, tapping the glass like the teen before him did.
His eyes darted up to you, the familiar look of adoration painted on his face as he watched you interact with Felicia and your son. William loved seeing the two of you at his games. Itâs essentially what he lived forâseeing the two most important people in his life support him through every game and milestone in his career.
âWant to stay for media tonight, bud?â William asked, tossing pucks to fans near the two of you. âWe can get gräddglass (ice cream) afterwards.â
At the mention of ice cream, Oskar nodded in agreement and you shot your husband a look, telling him that no matter the result of tonightâs game, he was in charge of taking care of Oskar during his sugar rush.
William only smiled, pressing some of his gloved fingers to his lips and putting them on the glass, his usual tell of âI love youâ before skating off. You and your son copied his action, eyes following as he ran off to join the others in their warmups.
âHi, Iâm so sorryâ a voice piqued, catching your attention as you turned towards the direction of where the voice came from. âBut would it be possible for me to get a picture with you? Youâre justâYouâre the coolest WAG ever!â
You chuckled a little, nodding as you adjusted Oskar in your arms.
The girl smiles widely and takes out her phone, leaning in a little and snapping the picture, all three of you smiling.
âââ
It had been a stressful first period.
The Sharks were shooting every chance they got, but none of them were successful. The game was tied at 0-0 for both teams going into the first intermission.
But within minutes of the second period, William had received a pass from Macklin, rushing down the ice as no one one the other team had been on defense. A Bruins player tried to block Williamâs shot, but his, and the goalies, efforts were in vain as the puck made contact with the net, the loud buzzer sound erupted throughout the arena.
Oskar jumped up from his seat, screaming at the top of his lungs.
âOh my God!â Felicia screamed, jumping up and down along with her children. âHe scored!â
You had been standing up the second Williamâs stick touched the puck this period. You cheered alongside your son and close friend, embracing your son as you lightly shook him in your hold.
âPapa scored! Papa scored!â Oskar cheered, toothy smile on his face as he pumped his hands in the air in excitement.
As chaos and cheers erupted from the stands and ice, William took a moment from his celebration and pointed at the two of you, his gloved fingers touching his lips beforehand. He smiled widely up at you and Oskar, smoothly gliding across the ice on his way back to the bench.
You returned the favor and smiled back just as big, your son still cheering in your arms.
It was moments like this that made it all the more worth it to support your husband in his dreams. You knew every goal was dedicated not just to you and Oskar, but everyone else who supported him in his endeavors.
âLooks like Ossieâs staying for media tonight,â Felicia muttered to you, smiles still decorating your faces.
You laughed at her comment, nodding to it as Oskar continued to celebrate his Fathers first goal of the night.
âThere was no shot he wasnât going to do it. Heâs going to steal all the spotlight from William,â you added, your son now perched in his seat, adamantly watching the game on the ice.
It was moments like these that you thanked whatever higher power that you had the life you had. You were forever grateful that you landed in Williamâs life and that he made it all worthwhile.

since william hasnât left yet (to my knowledge), they are still working out the logistics on moving. i think since baby eklund #2 is so young and oskar just turned five, the most likely decision is that william will go up to ottowa first while reader stays behind in america to continue taking care of oskar & the new baby.
heâll stay there for a bit and then fly back to san jose to help his family move up to canada. thereâs also a lot just surrounding that process like passports, finding a permanent residence, and packing, so having william leave first while reader works more on the travel logistics just make sense.
of course the sharks help reader pack up and move when it is time as well as help reader take care of her children (more so cat and the other wives help with that aspect).
oskar is great on planes, but the eklunds arenât too sure about anya as she was literally just born. so thatâll be an interesting journey for them.
itâll definitely be a ROUGH process, but will be worth it. oskar is def not happy about it since that means he has to leave mack & smitty (donât worry, the two are also NOT happy about it either). reader is still recovering from the birth so having her stay behind is more beneficial for her health wise.
ik it has been mentioned that william eklund will most likely stay in LA for the draft, but letâs pretend in this AU he leaves for sweden & then goes back to SJ
