unspoken fluff || accepting

he’s almost to the door when he feels arms wrap around him from behind, and he sighs, closing his eyes for a moment. he wants to stay, he does, but temptations to do what he wanted never won out over his duty. it was always about the work. the job always came first. that was one of the codes he lived by. still, that doesn’t make it any easier. 

        a hand is already slammed onto her paperwork , the winds whispering in her ear ... ah , he’s here.

        legs are propped up on her desk , foot idly kicking from side to side as she does not look up from her phone. not right away , at least. his presence is made without many words , though she knows she’ll eventually be a target of ... whatever he wants to talk about. ‘ did they have a case they needed him involved in ? mmm , she hadn’t gotten around to actually reading the paperwork at her desk ... ‘ 

        when she finally does look up , she shifts on her seat as she steadies an elbow on the armrest , cupping her cheek as she finally greeted the other with a smile. “ ... dr. whirlwind .... just breezing by today , hmm ? “ her attempt at what should’ve sounded like a joke ... a pun ? she was never too good at these things. “ listen , i’m gonna be really fucking honest here , I didn’t read any of my emails or memos yet so , you’re going to have to give me a minute to catch up if we’re supposed to be ... “ words trail as she tries to think of the appropriate phrasing , some how forgetting an entire twenty --- seven years of vocabulary. “ ... do ... shit ... together. “

         she was happy to sit down and finally have breakfast with him again, as it had been awhile due to their busy schedules always clashing. their time together was quaint, nice and peaceful, until the infamous “dr. whirlwind” mentions a — complaint? compliment? she didn’t quite know what it was exactly he was referring too. so naturally yui pauses from chewing, blinks, then politely swallows ( a lady should never talk with her mouth full ! ) before inquiring:
