Hello there! So this for Sangchengber Day 5: Family and it brings as a jealous Nie Huaisang, a amused and overprotective Nie Mingjue and a tired Nie Zonghui. There are some OCs of mine in there and I ask for forgiveness right now if their names are horrible or shitty. I hope you enjoy this and have a nice day!
For almost two years, Nie Huaisang and Jiang Cheng were living together now. Almost two years that Huaisang had to deal with his roommateâs beauty and stupid. Really, how come that he didnât notice Huaisangâs pining over him? More than two years and Jiang Cheng didnât ask or did a thing to acknowledge him for goodnessâ sake! Not a thing at all! Now, he was here, attending to a fucking wedding party while his crush was back at their house doing God knows what!
âA-Sang!â An aunt of his fatherâs side sang on his ear, throwing an arm over his neck. âMy little A-Sang! How big you are!â She laughed, taking a full gulp of her drink. âAnother wife, do you believe it? Your uncle has no shame!â
âAuntie, I think you have drunk enough.â Huaisang said, getting the glass from her. Just because he didnât remember that one, didnât mean he wasnât going to look after her. âWell, until she passes out or go pester someone else. Whatever comes first.â, Huaisang thought as she nodded in agreement.
âBut itâs true, you know?â She said, leaning into him, looking at the recently married couple bitterly.Â
âWhatâs true, Auntie?â He sighed, looking around for a savior. Anyone would do, truly. Â
âThe rumors. That your uncle is marrying again because the first one couldnât have children.â She explained, looking at the groom strangely. âPoor Mei, thatâs what I think.â She breathed deep. âPoor Mei didnât deserve this. She loved this asshole too much.âÂ
âWhat do you mean, Auntie?â Alright, even if Huaisang didnât like being there, the last family gossip always lifted him up. Even if it was just a little. âDo tell more.â
âPlease, sweetie.â The woman said, looking directly at him, strange and suddenly sober. âEverybody knows that your brother and the oldest of the twins Jades of Gusu are nothing but boyfriends. Oneâs already out for love.â She chuckled, looking around for Mingjue. âAnd you, everyone knows that you are way over hills for the youngest of the Jiangs.â
âWhat do you mean, Auntie?â Nie Huaisang turned fully to her, curious and intrigued.Â
âOh, sweet and innocent A-Sang. Once your father is dead, Mingjue is going to take over the business. But after his death, what happens?âÂ
âI will still be here?â Huaisang said quietly, not liking what was going to happen next already.Â
âOh, dearâŠâ She said, touching his cheeks, eyes filled with pain and pity. âEverybody knows that you know nothing about your familyâs business.â She whispered, stroking his eyebrows sadly. âNobody expects you to, A-Sang. Thatâs why your uncle is marrying that whore. Anyway, enjoy the party, A-Sang. While it lasts.â She disappeared in the crowd, leaving Huaisang alone with his thoughts. âWhy? Why would that woman do that to me?â He groaned, turning to the waiter passing by.Â
âDo you guys still have whiskey?â He asked.
âPlenty of it, young master.â The waiter smiled at him, before vanishing in the kitchen, chuckling with the gentle âthanksâ of Huaisang. âHere it is, younger master Nie.â
âThank you, Wu.â Huaisang smiled at him. âBring me the whole bottle, would you?â
âOf course, young master.â He smiled, simpatectelly. After he brought the bottle, Huaisang decided that nobody would ruin his already horrible night even more, not even his own family. Maybe that was the real reason why he went to the dance floor, maybe it was the alcohol, but the fact was that he went to the dance floor, fearing nothing.Â
As his favourite music blasted through the speakers, he let his body move on his own, not caring for what the others were saying, doing or thinking. His heart was already broken, his head still full of thoughts, horrible thoughts. âNo!â, he thought. âTonight nobody can hurt me!â he smiled as Blackpink started to play. âNot anymore.â
âA-Sang!â A cousin of his called, waving at him. âDo you know the choreography?â She yelled, throwing her stilettos away, almost hitting a cousin of theirs.
âOf course!â Huaisang answered smiling widely as Kill This Love blew through the amplifiers. âUhuu!â He laughed, dancing and singing along with the other girls at the wedding. He kept dancing and singing as all the playlist played out, drinking and joking around with everyone, caring even less if Jiang Cheng liked him or that girl in his class with every passing second. âLetâs kill this love!â He chanted, dropping a little of the whiskey on the floor.Â
âHuaisang!â Mingjue screamed over the noise. âWhat are you doing?â
âDancing!â Huaisang laughed, drinking a little more. He didnât care if he passed out, he was having the time of his life. And nobody would stop him.Â
âAnd drinking!â His cousin, TongTong, said beside him. âDo you know I love you?â
âYes. And I love you too!â He yelled back as Mingjue threw him over a shoulder. âDa-Ge!â He turned to him, completely ultraged. âWhat are you doing?âÂ
âGetting you home.â Mingjue retorted, putting the nearly empty bottle on a table nearby. âYou are too drunk, Huaisang.â
âNo! I was having fun!â He reached for the bottle. âFunkiller!â He screamed at the top of his lungs before dissolving in a mess of giggles.Â
âYouâre absolutely wasted.â He sighed, dumping his little brother in the backseat of the car.Â
âNo, Iâm Huaisang.â Giggled as Mingjue started to leave the parking lot. âDa-geâŠâ He called, lifting a hand to him. âAuntie said that Uncle is marrying that whore so he could take over fatherâs business.âÂ
âIâm still here.â Mingjue patted his head. âAs long as Iâm here, you will be fine. And fatherâs business too.â
âBut, Da-GeâŠâ Huaisang groaned, turning to him.Â
âGo to sleep, A-Sang. No uncle of ours will take over fatherâs business.â The older one threw his own jacket over the otherâs shoulders. âDa-Ge will resolve everything.â He stroked Huaisangâs hair, smiling sadly at his sleepy brother. âNo need to worry.â Was the last thing that Nie Huaisang heard before dozing off to a dreamless sleep, the first of many nights since he moved on with Jiang Cheng.Â
Sincerely, he didnât know the exact reason him and Cheng had moved in. At first thought, Jiang Chengâs brother, Wei Ying, was moving in with his boyfriend, Lan Zhan, and Nie Huaisang needed a place near the Art Institute after he got accepted. At second thought, Da-Ge could always buy him an apartment, but he prefered to go living with his long-life crush and best friend.
Now, here he was, sleeping on his older brotherâs backseat while he drove around the city, giving him time to think, sleep or do anything Huaisang wanted to. But, what Huaisang wanted to do right now was go home and hide from all the world for the rest of the weekend, just eating and watching Netflix with Jiang Cheng. And, yet, he really didn't want to deal with Jiang Cheng saying that he was irresponsible, that all he and Wei Wuxian knew was to party and just get themselves fucking wasted and a lot of other things. So, nah, not coming home tonight.Â
Because of that, when he woke up, Huaisang looked through the window in front of him, trying to calculate if they had already arrived at his apartment or not. He really didnât want to deal with Jiang Chengâs grumpiness and all of the Jiangs brothersâ dramas tonight (nor the rest of the weekend, to be true).
"Da-GeâŠ" He whispered, getting up slowly. "Where are we?" Huaisang asked, putting Mingjueâs jacket on.
"Almost at your home." Mingjue answered, making a soft turn. "Your husband called four times already." He smirked as his little brother came to sit on the seat next to him. âApparently, you are two hours past your bedtime.â
"Who?" Huaisang asked, putting the seat belt on. âI donât have a husband. Nor bedtime. Iâm not living with you anymore.â
âIf you say soâŠâ The older smiled fully, stopping in front of a small building. âHere we are.âÂ
âI donât want to go in, Da-Ge.â He whined, turning to him slowly, after some time.Â
âWhy not?â Mingjue asked, entering in the overprotective mood instinctively. âWhat did that Jiang do to you? And donât you dare lie to me, Huaisang, because I know he did something to you. You never drank how you drank today, Huaisang! Actually you never drank anything stronger than⊠Than⊠I never saw you drinking before, Huaisang!â He waved around, looking terrified. âSo, please, please, what happened? You can tell Da-Ge. Da-Ge will protect you from that monster!â He held Huaisangâs hands, searching for the youngerâs eyes.Â
âDa-Ge!â Huaisang looked up to him, exasperated. âJiang Cheng did nothing wrong!â He huffed, feelling the little squish Minigjue gave to his hands. âItâs not Jiang Chengâs fault I still have a crush on him, beside I got worried about you and dadâŠâ But Mingjue wasnât hearing anymore, too shocked to process anything else. âAnd you arenât even listening.â He sighed, rolling his eyes, before yelling. âDa-Ge!âÂ
âWhat do you mean âstill have a crushâ? When did you get a crush on that kid?!â Mingjue grabbed him, pulling him closer. âAnd he doesnât love you back? Fuck businessâ friendship, Iâm going to commit a murder.â He whispered in Huaisangâs hair. âDonât worry, A-Sang, Da-Ge is here.â He patted his back.
âDa-Ge!â Huaisang pushed him away. âHe doesnât know and neither do I want him to.â Huaisang murmured, leaning back into his seat. âJust⊠Just take me to another place, please.â He closed his eyes, not working the energy to talk with Mingjue or anyone else and, yet, expecting him to argue. But the older one just hummed in agreement and drove away (still shooting a murderous look at the small and beige building).Â
After that, the Nie brothers went to an old apartment of theirs. Even if Mingjue wanted to stay and take care of his younger brother, he had responsibilities with their dadâs enterprises, trips to do and new deals to make. Nie Huaisang didnât blame him, he did all of it so he didnât have to, thatâs all. His Da-Ge only wanted him to be happy, doing what pleased him.Â
At first, he planned to pass only a day there, but then a day became two and, suddenly, it was Wednesday and Huaisang had even put a foot out of the loft since the party. Nie Mingjue came to visit him everyday, not commenting on what he was doing, nor saying what was happening in the world around them.Â
"You really didn't check on your phone since we got here?" Mingjue sighed after Huaisang asked how TongTong was doing along with Zonghui.Â
"No, it died three days ago. The only charge here is from my old one.â He shrugged, making coffee for them. "And I couldn't find my old one."
"I see." He took the mug from Huaisang's hand. "Have you explained why you didn't go to college this week?"Â
"Nope." He chuckled, popping the "p". "I didn't even manage to work up the courage to get out of here, Da-Ge, let alone actually talk to someone.â
"And what the hell were you doing here all this time?" Mingjue sighed, putting the mug down.
"I'm painting again. And drawing. I forgot how cool and relaxing it was, to just paint and don't worry about anything else." Huaisang smiled, playing with his cup. "Do you want to see them?"Â
  "Yeah. I do, A-Sang."Â
âCâmon, they are in my room.â He led the way to his bedroom, even though it was usually the other one who used it in his freetime. Seriously, since he had moved in with Jiang Cheng the only places he went to was the college, Mingjue and Xichenâs house, Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhanâs apartment and his own apartment, beside the shopping nearby. âWhen did I get so old?â, he thought as he showed some drawings he had made that week. âWhen did I get so domesticated? And A-Cheng still says that the only thing I do is partying.âÂ
âThese are pretty cool. Thinking about putting it in your portfolio?â Mingjue asked, smiling to the scenes of birds and bees, to the neighbourâs drooling dog smiling back at him and to the⊠âWait, whatâs this?â He squinted his eyes, not quite believing in himself. âIs it Jiang Cheng--â
âNope, this is personal, Da-Ge!â Huaisang pulled the paper from his hands, hiding it beneath his pillow, breathing deeply. âWhat about the other ones? Did you like it?â
âYes, but Iâm more interested in the one beneath your pillow.â He crossed his arms, smirking at him. âWas the young Jiang here these days?â
âNo, Da-Ge, A-Cheng is at home, studying and, probably, hitting on a girl in his class.âÂ
  âWhy do you say that?â
âBecause he only talks about her! Heâs always like Hua Mei this, Hua Mei that. She is gentle as a morning breeze and smooth as a petal.â He murmured, pouting. âThat little shit didnât even notice that it was always me, me, who was there for him. Not Hua Mei.âÂ
âA-Sang, donât take it wrong, but you should get back because your man asks me about you every single day!â Mingjue said, sitting on the bed. âEvery single day, the Jiang boy asks where are you? Why arenât you going to class?â
âHe does?â Huaisang turned to him, momentarily forgetting his paintings.
âOf course, he does.â Mingjue huffed, rolling his eyes. âItâs getting annoying.âÂ
âOh!â He said, fidgeting his nails, stopping for a while. If it was true what Mingjue was saying, maybe, just maybe, Nie Huaisang had been a little bit too blind too, but nothing he couldnât handle. He just had to muster up the courage to get out of the loft and actually talk to his crush. âDo you know if he is in class now? Or something like that?â
âFor what I know, he is currently in class, sending you messages a mile per hour.â Mingjue fished the phone from his back pocket, looking at its screen for a second. âA cousin of us does the same classes as Jiang Cheng and said she would keep an eye on him for you.â
âWhich cousin? A-Hua? I remember she wanted to be a veterinarian.â He said, laying behind him. âOr it was A-Liang?â
âA-Hua. Wang Hua Mei.â He smirked as realization came to his didi, his eyes widening with every minute. âYes, our little cousin Wang Hua Mei who is a lesbian and a veterinary student.âÂ
âI was jealous of A-Hua? The little A-Hua?! No!â He hid his face with his hands, howling dramatically. âI canât believe this! Please, tell me TongTong donât know this.â
âOf course I know this, sweet cousin. I know everything that happens in this crazy family, including the affairs and jealousy.â TongTong laughed, smiling. âAaand you should thank me too. I made damage control on that video of us dancing. In the wedding.âÂ
âWhat video?â Huaisang looked between his fingers, fear cradling at his insides.Â
âThe one where you scream Fuck Jiang Wanyin so many times it became the name of the video.â Nie Mingjue said, smiling too.Â
âAnd to best everything, Letâs Kill This Love is blasting in full volume.â TongTong sat by his head, caressing his hair. âYou really know the choreography, uhm?â
âOf course I do.â He mumbled, trying to hold the tears back. Now Jiang Cheng wouldnât look at his face ever again. âI really screamed Fuck Jiang Wanyin?â
âItâs the name of the video, A-Sang, dear. What do you think?â She sighed, eyes looking fondly at him.Â
âOh, gods! A-Cheng isnât going to look at me ever again, Da-Ge!â Nie Huaisang groaned, trying to not scream too loudly. âWhat am I going to do?âÂ
âI donât know, fight back, try to talk with him, change your name and move to the USA.â Nie Mingjue shrugged, getting up. âEither way you choose, you will have to get out of this loft, get your things in your apartment and know that your family is by your side. Now, get up, hand me that painting of the Jiang kid and let me be the judge if it will go to your portfolio or not.â
âWhat painting?â TongTong said, perking up.Â
âDa-Ge!â Nie Huaisang screamed, but pulled the painting from beneath the pillow nevertheless. He may not know what he was going to do right now, but he knew that his family was going to be by his side at any circumstance. Because thatâs what you do when you are part of the Nie family, you take care of each other and let yourself be taken care of.Â
Okay, maybe the idea of bringing Nie Mingjue, TongTong, Nie Zonghui and A-Hua wasnât the greatest idea Nie Huaisang ever had in his life, but they were family and certainly would intervene in the talk he was about to have with Jiang Cheng. If they did, then he would accept Nie Mingjueâs advice and move to the USA as quickly as he could because they were going to start screaming with Jiang Cheng and one another and Nie Huaisang would be kicked out of his home. And if there were a few things that he couldnât stand, being humiliated was on top of them all.Â
âOkay, listen. Iâm going to talk to him, okay? No need to shout or intervene or pull any weapon I didnât manage to find before we came here, alright?â He turned to them, trying to look like the personification of calm and collected. âItâs just a talk, nothing that I canât handle. Thereâs nothing to panic over. Everything is fine.â
âA-Sang, dear, you look like you want to be everywhere minus here.â TongTong said, passing him a fan. âHere, you forgot this at the party.â
âThank you.â He said, breathing deep as he looked for the spare key they usually let hidden on his plants. âAh, here.â He pulled it out, shaking it a little. âBreathe, Huaisang, itâs very unlike that he is going to be home now.â He whispered, behind his fan, looking to the sides. âEveryth--â
âNie Huaisang.â Jiang Cheng growled, coming out of the kitchen, hearing an apron and yielding a knife.Â
âDa-Ge!â He yelped, running to hide behind Nie Mingjue. âHelpâ
âHavenât you said that you didnât need our help?â Nie Mingjue snickered, looking at him over his shoulder. âItâs just a talk, nothing I canât handle. It was something like that, right?â
âShut up.â He murmured, making himself look smaller. Â
âHold yourself, kiddo.â Nie Zonghui rolled his eyes, a hand inside his jacket. âPut the knife down, Young Master Jiang.âÂ
âWhy the hell didnât you answer my calls?! Or my messages?!â He said, walking to him. âExcuse us. Can you leave?âÂ
âOoh, I like him. He has no brain cells, just pure and beautiful anger.â TongTong whispered to A-Hua, smiling like crazy.
âJiang-xiong has brain cells, he is just too worried with Huaisang-gege and kind of angry too.â She whispered back, laughing behind her hands. âThey are kind of cute together, donât you think?â
  âYeah. Good propaganda too.âÂ
âTongTong!â She slapped her arm as the other just shrugged.Â
âLet go of the knife and I will step back.â Nie Mingjue said, looking amused at him. âNow, Wanyin.â
âFine.â Jiang Cheng turned around, scowling as he put the knife on the small cafe table Jiang Yanli gave them. âHappy now?â
âYeahâŠâ The oldest Nie of the room stepped aside, smirking at him. "For now."Â
"Why didn't you respond to my messages, Huaisang? Just because of that video?" He said, furrowing his eyebrows.Â
"Yes?" Nie Huaisang said, hiding behind his fan.Â
"That's it? Yes?" He crossed his arms. "No more explanation?"Â
"I panicked, okay? I thought you werenât going to look at my face ever again and hide.â Nie Huaisang started, knowing fully well that he would start rambling. âI was angry at you, okay? Every single time you opened your mouth, you would talk about Hua-Mei this, Hei-Mua that and I was getting jealous, alright? To worsen everything, when I arrived at the party, my fucking aunt simply glued on me and would let go, insisting that my uncle was marrying another woman so he could get children and usurp Dadâs company because Da-Ge insists that he is not dating Lan Xichen. But everybody knows that they are dating. And nobody believes that I could command it because Iâm just the âpoor and innocent A-Sangâ!âÂ
âHuaisang. Huaisang. NIE HUAISANG!â Jiang Cheng screamed, clapping his hands together. âBreathe!â He instructed when Nie Huaisang looked at him.Â
âNo! Now that I started, I will finish. I was angry at you, I was angry at my poor Aunt who did nothing more than tell me gossip and I was angry at Hua-Mei without reason.â He pointed at her, fan furiously coming back and forth in front of him. âSo, I started drinking and Wu brought me a bottle and I got another from who knows who and then TongTong asked if I knew how to dance Letâs Kill This Love. Of course I know how to dance it. I remember dancing, drinking and not caring even when Da-Ge put me on his shoulder and carried me out of there.âÂ
âWhy didnât you come home?â Jiang Cheng crossed his arms again.Â
âBecause I couldnât look at your face, see you praising someone else and deal with the Jiang brotherâs drama while drunk and dealing with my own drama and drinking. I was fucking wasted, A-Cheng, my hangover was horrible and I didnât left the loft for nothing but do go get some groceries.â He answered, rubbing his face. "That 's it! Happy now?â
âSo you're telling me that you got jealous over me and Hua-Mei, who is a lesbian and have a girlfriendâŠâ
âAnd cousin.â The girl added, smiling.Â
âI didnât know that at the time.â Nie Huaisang grumbled.Â
âAnd cousin, angered yourself in the wedding, got yourself drunk, started dancing with your another cousin and screamed Fuck Jiang Wanyin seventeen times in a row while singing Letâs Kill This Love?â Jiang Cheng carried on, lifting one finger to each action he quoted. âThatâs why you didnât answer my messages?â
âMy phone died and I didnât have a charger nearby.â He shrugged, still slowly fanning himself. âSorry.â Jiang Cheng stayed silent, looking at him with furrowed eyebrows. Some moments passed and nobody said a thing, just looking at each other as if trying to determine what was going to help next.Â
âA-Cheng, say something, please.â Nie Huaisang begged, when it all got too much for him.Â
âSo, you like me?â Jiang Cheng said, looking uncertain of himself.Â
âYes, A-Cheng, I like you.â He smiled as TongTong groaned behind him and A-Hua chuckled.Â
âGood, donât this again or last time I will break your legs.â He took the knife back, walking to the kitchen. âIâm making dinner, put the table.âÂ
âOkay, okay.â Nie Huaisang smiled, following him, chuckling when he heard Nie Mingjue said begrudgingly.Â
âDid he just use my threat?âÂ
âYeah, he did.â Nie Zonghui said, chuckling too.
"I'm liking him even more." TongTong said as A-Hua agreed with her. "We are staying for dinner, aren't we?"
"Yeah. I'm fucking hungry." Nie Mingjue said and Nie HuaisangÄ« wouldnât be happier than he already was.Â
âJust so you know, I like you back. Since we were in school.â Jiang Cheng whispered to him, nudging his arm with his elbow.Â
âDoes this mean we are dating?â He whispered back, a smile forming on his lips.Â
âI think so. What you think?â He smiled back, returning to where he was cutting the vegetables before.Â
âYes! I love you!â Nie Huaisang jumped at him, kissing his face.Â
âCareful, you idiot, Iâm holding a knife!â He screamed, but soon he was laughing too. And if Nie Mingjue and the others looked inside the kitchen and screamed at them for delaying dinner with their smooches, Nie Huaisang didnât care because now he was truly happy! He was dating his childhood crush, his family were by his side and happy for him and even if there were things that were kind of bad in his life, it was nothing he couldnât handle. Alone or not.Â
Summary:Â Partying and general merriment were just two things that Kakashi Hatake never sought in his day to day life. But when the entire gang gets together for a one off special event for a good friend, how can he refuse?

Kakashi was in his bedroom, not hiding. Nope, he just left his office early, through the window, ditched his ANBU, and snuck into his old apartment because he could. It had nothing to do with a certain senbon-obsessed shinobi or his ridiculous birthday party.Â
He was quite sure the entire thing would be a disaster. Everyone would be there, everyone would be drinking, and Genma would expect--no demand--he participate. If Genma didnât make him, Gai certainly would.Â
There could be no worse punishment than this. So he would spend his evening sitting on the floor in a bare room, and he couldnât have been happier about it.
There was a sharp knock at the door quickly followed by a most youthful yelling. âGai-sensei, Gai-sensei! It is time for us to go to the pub.âÂ
Gai pulled the door open and greeted his student with a jaunty thumbs up and a blinding smile. âAh Lee, you are correct. We must get going if we are going to pick up Neji and Tenten. I would hate for them to miss this after all our practicing this week.â
Lee dashed away as his sensei closed the door. âYes we must hurry! Gai-sensei, this will be my opportunity to woo the lovely Sakura. I am sure I can impress her with our display of youthfulness.â
âMom, Dad, hurry up! We donât wanna be late. Hinata will be there,â Naruto yelled up the stairs.Â
"Oh, well if Hinata will be there we really must hurry," Kushina said as she came down the stairs, still struggling to clasp her earring. "We really shouldn't keep my future daughter-in-law waiting."
Minato, only two steps behind her, shook his head. "She is only your future daughter-in-law if your son actually gets around to asking her out."
Kushina whipped around and stuck her tongue out, earning a chuckle from her husband.
"I told you it's not like that," Naruto protested as they filed out of the door.
Minato pulled the door shut before putting an arm around Kushina and pulling her to his side. "At this rate we are never going to get grandchildren."
"Neji, if I have to go, so do you," Tenten protested sitting on the side of their bed buckling the straps of her pointy heels.
"You do know people will actually see us there?" he asked with an exaggerated roll of his pale eyes.
Tenten stood, took a moment to check her balance in the unfamiliar shoes, then took his hand. "If you go, and don't complain more than absolutely necessary, I will shampoo your hair."
Neji took a moment to consider her offer. He knew she enjoyed showering together as much as he did, so it wasn't much of a bribe. Even so, it was an offer he could not refuse, but she didn't have to know that. "Will you dry it too?"
Bang. Bang. Bang. --came the forceful knock at the door. "Neji! Tenten! Gai-sensei and I are here! We can all go to the pub together."
Tenten shook her head--the two of them had no idea how to do anything at a normal volume. "Yes, I'll dry it too," she agreed, still shaking her head. "Weâd better go before they piss off the neighbors again."
Shizune was attempting to exit the shower, for the third time. "Genma, let go. The hot water is all gone, and you can't be late for your own party." She reached for a towel, but Genma grabbed it first. He patted his lover dry before wrapping it around her torso.
He pulled her close for one more searing kiss. "Fine, I'll let you get ready, but just know whatever you wear is subject to being destroyed when we get home tonight."
Shizune was dressed long before Genma. She wasn't remotely surprised by this. He always spent too long on his hair, and it always looked exactly the same as when he started.Â
âCome on,â she whined. âWe still have to go track down our illustrious Hokage.âÂ
âIâve got that covered. Iâm sending the best.â
Sakura looked herself over in the full-length mirror. Ino was truly a miracle worker. She had pulled, pushed, and blinded Sakura into someone she almost didnât recognize, before slipping a red strapless number onto her.
âYou look great. Honestly, I think itâs my best work yet.â
âI donât know how you do it. No one would know I just spent fourteen hours at the hospital.â
Inoâs eyebrow raised dangerously until it was lost behind her long blonde bangs. âI thought you said you only worked twelve hours today?â
âWell... there was a nap at my desk, and I had lunch so I really only worked twelve hours,â she stated proudly. Ino would see right through her, but hopefully she would just drop it.
Ino help up her arms in mock surrender. âWhatever you say. Now are you going to tell me why you are so worried about tonight?â
Sakura bit her lip, considering how to answer. Telling the truth would make it real, but lying to Ino was impossible. After everything they've been through together, Ino deserved the truth.Â
She took a deep breath, and turned to face her friend fully. âHe kissed me.â
Inoâs eyes were as wide as her smile. âWhere?âÂ
âOn the lips?â Sakura replied, confused.Â
âNo, where were you? When? How was it? Was there a mask?â Inoâs questions were flying out so fast Sakura couldnât comprehend them all.Â
âUm, how about I tell you all about it later, Iâve gotta go,â she answered with a shy grin, then took off down the stairs and through the flower shop. Ino heard the ting of the door chimes as Sakura ran out. She smiled at her own image in the mirror. Took them long enough. She smoothed the sides of her violet satin dress, and headed down the stairs. This was shaping up to be Genmaâs best party ever, and she wasnât going to miss a moment of it.Â
Kakashi had known she would be the one to find him. There was no getting out of it now. He opened the door just as she was raising a hand to knock. âHowâd you know?â
âI just did. I can always find you,â she said, reaching out for his hand.Â
His fingers wrapped around hers. âFine, Iâll go, but I am not singing.â
âI wouldnât be so sure. I hear Gai has been practicing. I know you wonât back down from a challenge,â she teased.
