he'd  begged  the  bartender  to  let  him  steal  a  tray  so  he  could  carry  five  drinks  back,  passing  each  drink  to  someone  sitting  in  the  circle  (  was  it  necessarily  the  one  they'd  ordered  ?  he  couldn't  promise  that  ).  “okay,”  he  starts,  settling  himself  down  in  the  circle.  “i  got  the  drinks,  so  i  think  you  should  go  first,”  he  says,  pointing  to  the  person  directly  across  from  him.
