If you're a commercial drone pilot or a hobbyist looking to see what opportunities await you, Hummingbird UAV has compiled a list of the Top 5 Industries to work in with your drone. However, one thing to note, you must have a commercial drone license in order to make the profit from your work. If you don't have a commercial drone license and are flying your drone for business and/or profitable purposes then what you're doing is illegal (similar to driving a car without a driver's license). 1.Photography/Videography Probably one of the most popular industries, and for good reason, Photography can be one of the most beneficial industries to be in. With the introduction of drones, many companies require photographs and video. Whether this be for commercials, weddings or adverts, you're never short of work. For me, Photography and Videography would be my preferred choice for commercial drone use as you can create some stunning aesthetics that wouldn't be possible with a regular camera. 2.Construction In recent times many construction companies have been using drones to survey and inspect their construction sites. It was reported that using drones within the industry saved them £1000s on inspections. With this in mind, it might be worthwhile getting into the construction industry as more construction companies look to use drones within their field of work. 3.Delivery This industry is fairly new and as such isn't as mainstream as the two categories mentioned above. However, it's worth getting your foot in the door now as many delivery companies such as UPS and Amazon have begun testing drone delivery. With these big companies looking to decrease delivery times it won't be too long until drone deliveries take off (no pun intended). 4.Emergency Situations Natural disasters, although they don't affect the UK as much as the rest of the world, cripple entire towns and cities. BT have been working to provide temporary internet connection in battlefields and disaster zones, something that could potentially save lives. Although it's not perfect yet it's something that is continuously making progress. If you've ever wanted to have the opportunity to help people and save their lives this could be the industry for you. 5.Police Force The Police Force in the UK have begun using drones to survey towns and cities. They use the drones to search for missing people, monitor traffic incidents and take aerial shots of crime scenes. What's the one thing they can't do? Chase criminals. The majority of the jobs that the Helicopter Service can do the drone can do which saves the Police Force a large sum of money which can be spent elsewhere. If you've ever wanted to assist the Police now could be the time to do so. Whichever industry you choose to work in make sure it's the right one for you. Remember, like stated earlier you need a commercial drone license before you undertake any work that you get paid for.
