this makes me think about alex, though, kieren's roommate in the treatment centre? he used the blue oblivion on their last night there, during their final meds administration before leaving for the 'nicer' place. the bed assigned to alex was empty the morning the walkers picked kieren up. what about his family? what would they have told them?
Woah, I dunno actually! Good point. His family would know he was being released. Maybe they'd just have to tell the truth, say he took drugs, violated some policy, blahblah, they have to detain him for longer... not sure! I doubt they'd want someone who had done that to be released, but Alex probably got the Blue Oblivion from someone inside the treatment centre, so it's just a matter of keeping him away from as many people as possible?
i think the government didnt tell the walkers anything until it was certain kieren was responding to his medication and could be released soon. with all the therapy sessions and the possibility of growing resistant against the meds, it wouldnt be a good idea to give them false hope. plus it would make it easier to dispose of those that didnt respond without question, because no one knew their family members were even being treated.
That's exactly what I was thinking! They must have spent so long waiting, not knowing. They must have hated Jem being HVF too, because she might be keeping people safe, sure, but she was out there killing people like Kieren - people who had families who were waiting, like the Walkers, to hear what had happened, to hear if their loved ones were okay.
