What if we pair fugitive Doctor's "I can't have a companion, I need to be alone and fight Division, all this distraction of helping humans is just my own stupidity trying to make me fail." with Driver Evans' "I don't care about my job or orders or morals, I care about not dying, I am out of here."? What if we forced them to stick together and be heroic?

They'd hate it, obviously. Fugitive Doctor going "We should not run into that exploding volcano, this is stupid." and Evans nodding along, turning around to leave - "Wise words." Fugitive Doctor seeing him leaving and grabbing the back of his jacket while running headfirst into danger "Get back in here". It'd be a beautiful dynamic, very unstable and not made to last and I don't want her to fix him but I do want her to understand she IS NOT HIM AND NEVER WILL BE. Might fix her accidentally, actually, just a little bit.

Maybe the reason she takes him along is because she wants to learn to be like him because it would be so much more practical, and it backfires spectacularly. Because she's just incapable of not caring. Maybe she just has to help like she does and tries to get him home/to safety but then they have to flee from Cosmo and she has to take him along.
