Interesting things I’ve discovered about locations and travel time while doing minor research for the Iron Dad Spider-Son fic I’m kind of working on:
- The Stark Industries tower (or later, Avengers Tower) is located at the same address as the MetLife building in New York. [200 Park Ave, New York, NY]. It’s listed on Tony’s info sheet at S.H.I.E.L.D.
- In the comics, Midtown High School (Peter Parker’s school) is based on Forest Hills High School in Queens, NY. The style and look is based on the Bronx High School of Science, but I would assume the location would still be the same as Forest Hills. [67-01 110th St, Queens, NY 11375]
- The Avengers Compound is always described as being in “upstate New York”...and with a little Googling, I found that someone compared aerial shots of the compound with aerial shots of the riverside/coastline it’s built along, and it seems to be in Esopus, NY.
- In the MCU, the Parkers actually have two apartments between Civil War and Homecoming. The first is on 15th Street in Queens, but the second is at 20 Ingram St, Forest Hills, Queens, NY. For the sake of what I’m doing here, I’m using the second one, since that’s where he is for a majority of his time on screen as Spidey.
- TRAVEL TIME! So something I’ve seen a LOT in fics, is the concept of Tony and Peter (and, by extension, anyone else in their circle) bouncing between Peter’s apartment, the high school, the tower, and the compound fairly frequently and easily, which for the MOST part makes sense...but the compound is actually much farther away that many people realize. To get from Avengers Tower to the Avengers Compound, it’s usually about an hour and a half to a two hour drive. Yikes. (Which isn’t THAT far in the grand scheme of things, but if you’re writing a fic and want accuracy like I do, that won’t do if you want Peter hopping back and forth from NYC to Esopus every day or so. So this is what I’ve mathed out:

OK folks, let’s make a playlist: best songs to drive to on a sunny day with the windows down and no particular place to be. Go!
And if, you don't love me now You will never love me again I can still hear you saying You would never break the chain.

Now, there was a witch, a warlock, a wizard, a sorcerer and a pound of uncut cocaine in a mystical gold snuff box. There were rumours of timeless music reaching the celestial planes. Then the guitar riff began by the duke of Buckingham....and it sounded like this.
