I really fond of the idea that Gummi Bears as a society (especially the ancient gummis) are really accepting about sexuality because they're highly advanced species. Which leads to Graffi when Cubbi, Tummi and Sunni are influenced by the medieval human world on sexuality to lecture them about the 'Gummi way' of being really open to queerness.
Ooh man i have thought about cultural approaches to queerness. I actually would love to learn what medieval englands feelings on queerness was, since im sure it has changed a lot from 500 AD to 2025, but thats more of a real life history thing and not magical bear show thing. Anyway
I like the idea that most Gummis simply dont care about differences in sexuality and gender, Their society doesnt seem to prioritize men or women in roles of power (tbf the only example we have of a large-scale power structure is Gummidoon for one episode). They do seem to have a lot of respect for wizards and the elderly, so seniority is far more important in a role than anything else.
"when Cubbi, Tummi and Sunni are influenced by the medieval human world on sexuality" THIS now, yeah, esp with how much gummi literature is just forgotten or is old and likely dull for the kids to read, suddenly all theyre getting is "Handsome man saves damsel in distress" and various other fairytales, with little reference to relationships out side of that. I can easily see Gruffi, Grammi and Zummi not notice this issue for a long time too. All it takes is for one of the kids to say smth weird and suddenly all the adults are looking at eachother like "ok who taught them to be homophobic??"
