You can imagine my delight when I received a telephone call from one of your fellow Fannibals (Augustina), discussing a blood donation campaign based on an episode from the NBC television series Hannibal. Biomedical services (blood donation, testing and processing) is one of the five primary lines of service provided by the American Red Cross. However, blood services seldom receives the attention it deserves. Did you know… · every 2 seconds, someone in the United States requires a blood transfusion? · 38,000 blood donations are needed every day? · one pint of blood can save three lives? By raising awareness of the ongoing need for blood donation, we can work together to have a life-saving effect on our community. Please allow me to thank you for taking the time to work with the American Red Cross to make a meaningful difference. Your act of kindness will have a positive effect on many individuals in more ways than I can begin to explain. Thank you for the signal boost! Also, I'd greatly appreciate it if more Fannibals could reblog this. If you know of anyone who lives in Sydney and loves Hannibal, then please spread the word! It's for a great cause and will help save many lives. 

About two weeks ago I proposed the idea of having a meat up (pun fully intended) in response to the Fannibal blood drive campaign, which is being held worldwide this month. Well, it's officially July, which means it's high time that I put this idea into full swing! First off, I want to see how many Fannibals living in Sydney are keen on getting behind the blood drive, so please message me if you are! I'm thinking of holding this meat up later in the month on a Sat (unfortunately donor centres don't work Sundays); either on the 20th or 27th. For the sake of convenience, we'll be giving blood at Town Hall's Red Cross blood donor centre since it's easily accessible via public transport. I'll provide further details once I get an idea of how many people are interested.  If you want to mix things up, you can cosplay on the day or simply come as yourself; it's up to you! If you have a needle phobia or you're reluctant to give blood for whatever reason, that's fine as well. What matters is that you are showing your support for this great cause just by showing up!  After we've donated blood, we could go and have a hearty meal at some steakhouse and feast on succulent, bloody peop... steak, I mean steak or did I? *smirk*. So, any Sydney Fannibals who are as keen as a severed spleen to get this show on the road, simply message me with your first name and the day and time you wish to attend (either on the 20th or 27th; as for times I would prefer to hold the blood drive itself at around midday-ish, but we can work around it and come to a compromise if that time isn't suitable for everyone). Also, you MUST be 16 years of age or older to be eligible. In the meantime, I'll create a Facebook event page and link you all to it once it's available. I hope that I can get enough of you guys on board, although whether we get 3 people attending or 50, the Sydney Fannibal blood drive will be going ahead regardless!  !!!UPDATE!!! RSVP to the meat up here.  You will have until JULY 7TH to express your interest, so be quick! She still hasn’t responded yet, but in any case I’ll create another post maybe on wed/thur about the Sydney Fannibal blood drive, including potential dates and times; I’m thinking late July, either on the 20th/21st or 27th/28th. I’ll ring up the red cross blood donor centre in Town Hall before that and see if they will be OK with us coming as a group. HAHA, I don’t think I’ll be able to keep a straight face though, which will probably make us look even more insane. As if the fake blood splatters wasn’t enough! :PLOL, I did not know that! So not only do they have a number of wine selections, but an entire freakin’ vineyard. LOOK YOU GUYS, WE’VE GOT WINES MADE FROM PEOPLE. And it just so happens that these people are also used to provide sustenance for the grapevines, a la MUSHROOM PEOPLE FROM EPISODE 2. None of their wines have been aged for two years, though. Imagine if there was...MIRIAM!!!  

AHHhhh! YES!! GREAT! WONDERFUL! BRILLIANT! *squeals*Well, no, I should probably save that for after we’ve donated our blood. Hurr hurr. ;)So are you as keen as a… spleen to have this meat up then (jfc i’m terrible haha)? The hard part will be getting this meat up happening on the same day and time, but I’m sure we’ll be able to compromise. I think the weekend is a definite, for starters!Ahh, I’m so glad you’re interested though, AND THAT YOU’RE A SYDNEYSIDER! EVEN BETTER. :D
