people aren't paying enough attention to the potential that Drewuelo holds and so I shall enlighten the world to this pairing..
To start off, Elanuelo is the Emperor of the Aculon empire, and Drew is the head of the Aculon knights. The emperor and his knight, a beautiful trope filled with devotion that they certainly do not lack.
During the first few days, Elanuelo kept himself inside of a bunker and Drew was one of the few officials allowed to know his location. I mean, I'm certain that he has a great amount of trust for his head knight, no? Even when Turkey was the acting emperor, Drew was his personal guard, which probably means that if Elanuelo had been above ground, Drew would've been his guard.
Though, the Aculon knights were never that great in the eyes of the public. Especially Drew, who, as the head of the knights, found himself allowed to steal and take from people however he saw fit since there was no one to reprimand him for it. Even if people mentioned it to Elanuelo, it's not like he would care. Drew was important to him.
The trust between Elanuelo and Drew isn't just a headcanon either. It's shown in the moment where Turkey is assassinated, as Drew is tasked with pulling the lever and then hunting down Ender: Elan's very own son.
Elanuelo himself even mentions that out of everyone in the event, the only person that he fully trusted was Drew. Because he knew that, if it came to it, Drew would lay down his life for him.
Throughout the world, Drew is known as "the loyal knight." His loyalty is a very defining characteristic. People know that he is devoted to Elanuelo more than anyone, he isn't shy about it, perhaps even taking pride in it. Even he himself says that: "While you may not agree with everything he did, you were loyal."
And it is precisely because Elanuelo knows how loyal Drew is, how he would die for him when the situation called for it, that Drew was stationed outside of the Iron Torch in the Battle of Aculon. Elanuelo knew that he was going to die in that battle, and he did not want Drew to die for him. At the end, Elanuelo wanted Drew to survive, and he achieved that by separating the two of them.
Out of all the knights, it is only Drew that survives, left to mourn the man who he swore himself to. "Drew was merely a weapon for a dictator," the court ruled, before telling that weapon to try and find peace.
It is the undying loyalty between them that captivates me, how Drew is uncaring about anyone until it comes to Elanuelo, and vice versa. Elanuelo is willing to sacrifice many if it means keeping himself alive and in power; but not Drew, never Drew.
